Title: What About Qpe ?

hi !

Just 2 questions :

1) Why is the qpe image not usable for now ? What is missing ? when is it planned to be released ? (please, just don't answer me "when it will be ready™"  ) Are there many developpers on this project ?

2) What will be the difference between qpe and pdaxrom, both using a X server ?

I think you mean the gpe image. (Gnome Palmtop Environment - Don't know for sure, they have just blitzed their web server AGAIN).

I used to run this on iPaq with familliar some time ago... I presume that some of the problems are related to the move to the OE build environment. OE 1.0 seemed pretty good on my old iPaq.

The gpe platform isn't supposed to be platform specific like PDAXROM is. Hopefully when OE builds an image for gpe and the platform support bits for power management etc. are ported in for each target then it will be a pretty portable X environment for handhelds.

I have it running (admittedly not perfectly) on my 5500. Which machine are you talking about?

Probably not a great deal, except that the underlying system is newer with OZ (later version of libc, etc.).

Thaks for your clear answers, guys.

Iardman : i have a 750, and the image availiable via the web browser is called xxx-non-working-xxx or something like that... But maybe it only means it is not _fully_ usable. Any way, i won't test it until an official image is released as i really need my Z to be functionnal for my studies.

Unless someone tell me it works fine and has a good word processing tool...
