Title: Amazon 6000l Lowered To $379!
Post by: neuroshock on November 28, 2004, 04:36:56 am
Thought the price lowering deserves a new thread.

Amazon has lowered the price on the Sharp Zaurus SL-6000L to $379!

Get 'em while they're hot.

The price has gone down from $499 4 days ago to $475 yesterday to $379 today.

I ordered at $499 on the 24th, they refunded my credit card $25 the next day and today they refunded it another $95.

At this rate I should have all my money back and begin turning a profit by December 13th!

Thank goodness for price-adjustments!!

Steve

I had been lurking on eBay for weeks in search of the 5600 but secretly dreaming of the 6000L.

When I spotted this massive price drop to $379, I couldn't believe it. I raced over to Amazon.com as fast as Safari could take me and threw it into my shopping cart. What a great deal. In a week or two I'll officially be a Zaurus user. Can't wait.

Amazon is a BIZARRE company sometimes.

Now the price is back up to $489.99.

How can an item go from $500 to $475 to $380 to $490 in 4 days?!?!?!

Customer: How much is this item?

Amazon: Depends on what time of the day you want to order it!?!?

I thought only Gas stations changed the price hourly. Who knew?

Just glad I got my at the $379 price!!

That's called "they are now gone"... the $489 is for a *used* one!

I'm glad I got mine at the $379 price in that perspective... that was quick!

Looks like they came back in stock.....at least for the time being.

I suggest anyone on the fence take the plunge and decide during Amazon's 30 day  (or however long it is)  return period .....of course you'll have to pay to ship it back, but it beats missing out if it turns out you really wanted one.

(As Mentioned in an Earlier post)

Anyone who bought the 6000L at Amazon for MORE than $379 within the last 30 days is entitled to a price adjustment (credited back to your card).

Just use there email help system or call/phone them with the order number and order date in hand.  It only takes a few  minutes and bingo, you've got a partial refund.  For anyone spending $499, that would be a cool $120 dollars back.

Woohoo! stumbled upon the $379 6000L at amazon accidentaly and bought it.  I'll become a Zaurus hacker in about  2 hours when I get home and open the box. I paid for overnight shipping. I can't wait to try and get GPE running on it.

Hi guys,

I am a newbee in Linux and Zaurus things and have just decided to get me my first Zaurus PDA. This deal from Amazon for 6000l seems to be very interesting, but there is one problem: I live in Switzerland.
Is there anybody willing to send me one 6000l... ?

I would order it with my CC to your adress in the USA, you check out what is the shipping cost to the Switzerland, I transfer $xx for shipping to your CC, and finally you send it to my address in Switzerland?

It's not a little money for me, so I would appreciate if some older forum member could do it... only thing I can do is to trust you...

Thanx

What I did :

I am living in france, and the hardest thing was to ask someone living in US.
I found Someone from a collegue's family , living in NY who has planned to come in france in January.

Thanks to him, I ordered one today (visa payment, so he won't have to pay anything)

379$ is really cheap for a Great machine (and the conversion to euro is really an advantage ( 1$ is 0.76 euros)

Now , just have to wait

Please, those who are living in US, help us , because we are a lot (in europe) who wants to 'play' with that incredible machine.

Tapjpa,

where do you see it at $350? I checked yesterday and today, but there is nothing directly from Amazon, just a bunch of other vendors that sell through their website.

I got mine at $399 few weeks ago, I'd love to get some credit back before I go past the 30 days window.....

I think it's the matter of time of the day. When I checked it today morning (Switzerland) it was stable $379 for some hours (in US is night time). Now the price at Amazon is $475 (16:00h Swiss time,  ca 8:00AM US time). I would say that Amazon raises the prices during the US day time and lowers them during their night time. So, all of you US guys, set the clocks very, very early in the morning and go get it.
Maybe someone can help me get one too, please !

Keep trying guys, it's true that the deal is in its death throws but if you watch the Amazon site you will notice that if you follow my original link it keeps popping back up and then going away.  This is because that they ran out of original stock and now ppl that purchased one and their credit cards were declined, or they were rejected by the recipient upon delivery, were undeliverable, were cancelled at the last minute by the purchaser etc. etc. etc. - These Zaurii are then placed back in stock and become available again.  If you pay close attention over the next few days to a week you will see a trickle of them become available because of things like these.

Good Luck All,
-NeuroShock

We gave up trying to get one from Amazon altogether ('coz they won't ship to the UK), and payed $499 for one from getpartsonline last week (who do have stock, and will ship worldwide).

Turned up on our doorstep on Monday (a week after placing the order - not bad for an international shipping). I'd reccomend them to anyone outside North America stuck trying source one of these (beautiful - that screen is sooo nice) SL6000's.

Now if only my wife hadn't hidden it away 'til Dec 25th (it's my Christmas present from her)....

you lucky Bastard cwaig - to get a Zaurus as a christmas present from your wife ...
but again, the pain of having to hold back till christmas time... oh she must be torturing you ...

And I dont know how to justify another zaurus (after  my previous 2) to my wife provided I get one at the low price ppl mentioned.

I still havent seen one below $450 at Amazon ? Are u guys who got it at $375 new users at Amazon or previously registered ? Maybe they are playing games with registered users or some such catch ?

My wife's pretty cool about this sort of thing - past Christmas presents have included a NeoGeo Pocket-Colour,  a Gameboy Advance, and a Zaurus SL5500 (UK spec, from John Lewis just before Sharp pulled 'em from the UK market).

Luckily I didn't need to justify it - it was totally her idea 'coz I use my 5500 so much (she was going to get the SL-C860, but changed her mind 'coz she wasn't comfortable with PriceJapan not taking Visa direct).

That's funny, they're showing up for me at $300.  I have to admit the seller makes me a bit nervous though since he/she has only been selling on Amazon for about 2 weeks and normally sells much cheaper items.  On Ebay at least that would be a warning sign.

But on Amazon the transaction is guaranteed...looks like a winner and a good deal for someone!  $300 for brand new is a steal.

Only thing I would worry about is that it is used.  The boxes aren't exactly "sealed" when you receive them so there would really be no way to know if it was already opened or not for sure.  But even used for that price is good.

Amazon marketplace has it listed as "New". So if it isn't, there's always the option of returning it. At least I hope that is what "Safe buying guarantee" means.
