Title: Ann: Updates To Edict, Kanjidic, Enamdict
Post by: halx on November 28, 2004, 07:46:50 pm
Hello everybody,

once again I uploaded enhanced and updated dictionary conversions (http://www.hloeffler.info/zaurus/) (EPWING format).

EDICT:
* added gaiji bitmaps for french version, i.e. accented characters are shown now (ugly console8x16 font for now, but readable)
* corrected license for Russian version (a separate project)

KANJIDIC:
* search by radicals in keyword search
* accented characters, etc. for spanish and german version

ENAMDICT:
* just some cleanup

Source:
I also put the Perl conversion scripts to my wepage for those who like to build custom versions (the scripts accept some flags for that purpose) or want to write their own scripts.

As usual see ChangeLog for more detailed information.

All your thanks are welcome!  Thank you very much for your interest so far!

I recentely also updated my dictionary page (http://www.hloeffler.info/zaurus/) and added some links to other dictionaries in the EPWING format (Vector carries now the new 2004 CIA factbook!).   Hope those will be useful to you.

BTW, for all of you who understand/speak French here is and interesting link on Forum Japon (http://www.forumjapon.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5596)

And to all who will sit the JLPT tomorrow:  Good luck and gambatte!

Which level?  You will be in Nagoya/MeijoU, too?

Yep, Meijo U.

I'm only taking level 3. I was signed up to take level 2... then I took a look at the required material. (-_-;)

At least it's got me studying again.

How much does it cost to take those tests? And how often can you take them? I'll probably be in Japan this summer from April to late July, and taking the Level 3 test would be nice. I probably know enough grammar for Level 2, but am seriously lacking in Kanji known.

Btw, how did it go for you two?

The tests are only available once a year in Dec. (usually 2nd Sunday from memory)

You should get all relevant information from the JEES webpage (http://www.jees.or.jp/jlpt/en/).

I uploaded the Portuguese version.  Still a test version, though.  I have to resolve a few issues.

Does anybody know how to convert Kuten code to JIS?

I know that all EDICT language version are used by someone but what about KanjiDic?
Is anybody reading this forum using the Spanish and/or Portuguese KanjiDic version?

I'm using the English Kanjidic (^-^) It comes in really handy when I can't find the meanings of words in my dictionary.

I hope to be able to help you once I learn a little more about the Zaurus.

Hi!

I have been using your epwings dirs, and are small, good and fast withing ztenv.

However I have found some strange behaviors compared with the original EDICT.

For example:
たら is defined in EDICT (normal, from edict page) as:
たら /(prt) indicates supposition/if ... then/

However, in the EPWING versions, isn't appearing anywhere.

Also, こころ:
心 [こころ] /(n) mind/heart/spirit/(P)/

However, in the EPING versions, only says: spirit.

Is a reason behind this, is a bug, or i'm just expecting too much?

Regards,
Omar
