Title: funny story.... involving .profile
Post by: Anonymous on December 30, 2003, 05:32:03 pm
So, I accidentally deleted my .profile file on my zaurus sl-5500.  I can\'t seem to find a copy anywhere.  Help would be greatly appreciated!

oops

I have the tkcrom 2.0alpha3 on my 5500 and put the .profile file on the server.. you can grab it here:

http://www.zaurususergroup.com/downloads/profile (http://www.zaurususergroup.com/downloads/profile)

I\'ve renamed it to \'profile\' (with out the preceding dot).  You\'ll probably need to wget it as most browsers will just display the contents rather than downloading it.  Don\'t forget to rename it to .profile afterwards.

Hope this helps.

If you ever find yourself in a position where you need the original copy of a file, on the Sharp ROM there are 3 hidden tar files in /root that are used to restore everything after a full reset: .dev_default.tar, .home_default.tar, and .var_default.tar

.profile is in .home_default.tar and untars to /home/root

(sorry, second thank you) Gracias to offroadgeek for the upload  I just had to make a few minor changes, but works like a charm now.  Thanks to you too doseas.  I didn\'t know that, so if I accidentally mess up anything again I\'ll be covered now.

You don\'t backup your z onto PC?  You could pull the file from there.

I had just gotten it four days ago.  So I haven\'t gotten around to backing it up yet.
