Title: What Case Do You Have For Sl-c3000?
Post by: ArchiMark on December 02, 2004, 12:28:03 am
Thought it's time for the 'what case do you use' question...might as well deal with it now...

Anyway, I had one of those little Targus zippered universal cases lying around, so using it right now for my C3000.

Works OK, but not very elegant or well-fitted for the C3000.

What are others doing?

I saw on Conics site (photos from WPC2004) that Sharp had developped cases for C3000
Did you see them ?

Couldn't find the link from conics.net that displayed the case.

I'm looking around for a case made out of aluminum or any other hard metal. My bags are usually filled to the brim, which leaves very little room for the C3000  Perhaps a modified hard-cover CD carrying case ? Anyone have any suggestions?

Just checked Conics site....

If you look at case descriptions,it says

"(not suitable with SL-C3000)"

under each case listed right?

SO no SL-C3000 cases yet....

What I said is : I found these pictures on conics site.

But I know that for the moment, Conics doesn't sell them.
I'm sure he will, in a few days or weeks.

I just bought a case.  I don't know if it will fit as it is in transit and I am waiting for Conics to send the 3k.  I let you know how will it fits when the two meet up.

Mark,

http://www.data-nation.com/index.asp?redir...usellmodels.asp (http://www.data-nation.com/index.asp?redirect=krusellmodels.asp)

The brand is Krusell and the model is the  Horizontal PDA Premium - S #94110
124mm x 21mm x 85mm

The fit should be snug for the 3K:   124mm x 25mm x 87mm
My experience with my last Krusell case is that there is stretch.

You can also see the manufacturer's site:   www.krusell.se

You just have to be careful with some sites as they carry the older models which do not have the fancy-shmancy card holders in the front as the new picture shows.

I have bought from data-nation before so I went with what I know.  The price was slightly higher but not enough to cause concern.

hi,

i'm using a belt case for Psion 5 series which is really good for the Z-3k. It misses few pockets for accessories (spare battery, remote control, CF card and SD card...) but it's really good (and some friend of mine gave it to me so it was really cheap   )

Hello newbie here.
I recently got SL-C3000 and I am using Beilkin Universal Slim Leather case.

http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage...oduct_Id=122965 (http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=&Section_Id=200589&pcount=&Product_Id=122965)

The material of the case is really crappy and a little tight for depth-wise but anyway pretty fits good and this case can easily be found.

I've been doing some digging around for a cheap but functional case with room for accessories as I'm making plans to blow my tax refund on a C3000 in a couple of months.

I grabbed one of these (the PTA-801) (http://www.sumdex.nl/engels/engnylon4.html) at Microcenter for < $3 a couple of weeks ago. Can't seem to find it at the Microcenter site, though.

Anyway, it holds my 5500 in a cheap slip case, USB thumb drive, 2' USB cable, 7-way card reader, peakcloudy battery pack, plus CF wireless card and modem with room to spare. Might work for a 3000.

It's nice, heavy nylon, with a decent amount of padding, and seems to protect everything well enough bouncing around in my satchel. Plus, it looks more like a toiletry case than something that holds an expensive gadget, so maybe it'll deter theives.

Unfortunately, Microcenter doesn't seem to have it online. I found it in with the camera cases.

Thanks BW,

I saw XIGMA's product by searing on the web, and I actually sent an e-mail to them asking if they can deliver the product to US.  It was about a month ago.  I got a response saying they will open English version web page soon, but I haven't noticed that it finally opened.

Still wondering about a point.  It looks like their case cover's 'snap' is actually tied to the reverse side of the C3000.  Just like up side down from my Belkin one in the picture above.  Any idea which one is more useful and why?

XIGMA also have another case in their range, though at the moment only available on the japanese site:
http://xigma.jp/04/slc3000/mini6/index.html (http://xigma.jp/04/slc3000/mini6/index.html)
asking them via email, they replied that they would also put this one on their english site: "Thank you for contacting us! We are sorry for your inconvenience, but SL-C3000 organizer models are coming soon also on our English site. You are kindly asked to wait for a short moment."
and wait we will... this one looks even better, though the price seems to be around $100 - nevertheless the c3000 wasn't the cheapest thing i've bought and in comparison the case seems still ok.

the case cover of the one case already available in english really seems to snap on its back, but when you look at the details it might make sense (IMHO):
http://xigma.jp/en/04/slc3000/u-dx/img/b.jpg (http://xigma.jp/en/04/slc3000/u-dx/img/b.jpg)
if you open, you won't have it hanging in front of the z but rather hidden on its back...

Hi all,

I recently purchased a Roots D2 beltcase for my SL-C3000 (CA$20, including taxes), it's a little bulky but the front pocket lets me fit the WiFi CF, the GSM/GPRS CF and the LAN CF cards, I will probably even be able to add a headset+microphone cord (for the GSM/GRPS card) and a classic audio headset as well in the inside compartment if properly folded...

Anyone have any knowledge as to whether these will work or not for the 3k?  The dimensions look like it would be within a mm or two short on length.  The pictures don't seem to show well enough if the SD slot would be covered or not, etc.  I suppose that is the kind of stuff that I could live with though.  I would be more concerned if it covered the CF slot.

Hey Mark,
It is blck leather with white stitching on the outside. It holds the Z in place from the bottom. It has two credit card slots and two sd card slots, a removable id window that doubles as a flap that protects the z from coming into contact with the cards. Also, the flap is inserted into a pocket that could be used for cash or folded checks. Look it up, www.pdair.com

NOTE!
(as I just discovered) brando cases for the 860 are COMPLETELY different for the 3000/1000.

the brando 3000/1000 case has pegs to locate/hold the zaurus, and these are completely different to the location of the holes in the 860.

I have discovered, rather accidently, that the Targus Stowaway keyboard cases are a perfect fit for the 1000/3000. My Palm 5 keyboard( a rebranded Targus) case is a bulky, but sturdy leather zip-up style. My Compaq Stowaway has a slim, black elastic zip-up that is perfect for fitting into my coat pocket.

I used to use the palm case for my homemade battery extender (8xNiMH AA batteries making a ~4600mAh battery pack) but I think I'm going to try and hunt down the Pelican Power-Bricks for the PSP and use a couple of those for the Z instead. (They're apparently ~3700mAh rechargeables for $20US each.)

Nitize
http://www.niteize.com/category.php?category_id=27 (http://www.niteize.com/category.php?category_id=27)
found at COMPUSA ($20)

has a holster that is nearly perfect for listening to your podcasts on the go. The whole thing stretches to fit. If you don't have a remote, you can push all the outer buttons without removing your C3000. The headphone jack is exposed just enough. There is a thin secure pocket that stretches to hold my  CFwifi, CFflash, and extra battery. The clip is hard plastic, but seems strong enough to me. I use it as my only case (I have three others that were never good enough). But, there are exposed areas.

Just received a Piel Farma SL-C300 Case in Black/Tan.  Very good fit, great leather.  Will be field testing it outdoors, and with a full assortment of accessories over the next few days.  Will try to get my digital camera to take a few pics of it this weekend and upload for all to see.

Definitely worth the one month wait in my opinion.  Goody!  No more unslightly pouch to carry my 3K around on.

Yippee!

I've been waiting over a month for a case from thepouch.co.uk.  So far I'm not very happy at all with the buying experience through them.  I've been told it is now on its way from the factory to their distribution center, but they are not willing to overnight it to me, so once it gets to their distribution center, I will have to wait up to a week more for it.

Kooie,
we and Streamline just sent back the first lot of cases
to PielFrama ([a href=\"https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=12537&hl=]case problems[/url]).

Could you please look at your case and check if:
- you can access the CF slot while the Z is in the case ?
- the stitching on the upper part is one uninterrupted line ?

I'm just wondering if there exist two series of the cases because
the first sample we got was near to perfect, they messed up the
design for the final case.

Hi Marc,

I checked, and u r right, there is only a piece of plastic holding the case together.  (MIght need to drop an email to the guys there on this).  The CF slot is fine on mine.  It fits fine and allows a CF card to be inserted.

U have got me worried though on if the case can last with all the opening and closing of the cover.  Hmmm!  Will check if they are doing something about mine.

Thanks for the update.

Cheers!

Awesome work fellows- finally a case I like, esp. the clip mechanism- that really looks like the business on the SLC3000. Let's see how long they will take to get here... they only charge $3 for postage! what a refreshing change...

i'm using a cheap ($5) camera case from Kmart that is almost form fitted to my C1000... except for some extra space at the top (can probably close it with a CF wifi card in)

not much space for accessories, but enough for a spare SD card, and the USB Host cable

i'll post some pics tomorrow

at Kmart, it's item SB20, but on the site, it's SB21

http://www.snapsights.com/products_bags.html (http://www.snapsights.com/products_bags.html)

got to get that logo off, somehow
