Hello everyone!
Cacko ROM 1.22 is appraching its release (yes, it wil be out very soon!). Since we've completely replaced wlan-ng wireless drivers with hostap in the new ROM, I want to make sure that all cards, currently used by ZUG people are properly supported by the new drivers. Hostap drivers should support most prism2-based cards, but configuration entries for some cards may be missing. So, please, post here output of "cardctl ident" command. I will take a look into hostap config files and make sure there is an entry exists for it.
When posting, try not to duplicate information - have a look if other people have alreadyposted info on same card.
Thanks,
Anton

Hi,
I use Buffalo WLI2-CF-S11
It works well with the cacko 1.21b.
Thanks for your very good work!

I have two. A blue Origol/Senao WiFi Card, from Shirtpocket (http://ww.shirtpocket.co.uk) and a pink Mercury (?) card. Both are the same except for the colour sticker. In 1.21b they need the following in wlan-ng.conf.
card "Origol/Senao WLAN Card"
manfid 0x000b, 0x7100
bind "prism2_cs"

Hi,
I want to use a D-Link DCF-660W with your new Cacko ROM 1.22. I hope you will support it, otherwise I have to buy another one.
And I also thank you for this great work .
Thanks
Tim

I have the old spectrum/socket. I'm pretty sure you would have this one covered. I'm assuming the new cards from them are still not supported.
-
Those of you that do not know if you use a prism2 based card. Please open a console and run the following command:
cardctl ident
Then post the output in this thread. Otherwise we won't know what drivers need to be in the ROM.
Thanks!

I have a socket low power WLAN card. It gives the same readout as a previous poster (emerika).
My input is that I had to do some hacking of the files in /home/etc/pcmcia in order for my card to show up as WIRELESS card. As the ROM came (both Cacko 1.21b and stock), it showed up as LAN card, which meant I could not enter any WLAN settings in the network applet.
I'm not sure anymore what I changed though, and I don't have the original files anymore (I'm not sure how to break them out of the ROM package).
If someone can tell me how/where to get the original files, I'll double check what changes I had to make and post them.

I have the same card and it's working with 1.22 ROM our of the box.

That is what everyone tells me.
I think my card must have a problem, or be some weird interval revision. I've always had more trouble making it work than anyone else.
As long as I can hack at the files in /home/etc/pcmcia I know I can make it work if it doesn't. That is part of what is cool about Linux.
FYI: here is the change I had to make.
Modify /home/etc/pcmcia/spectrum.conf
ORIGNAL LINE:
class "network" module "hermes", "orinoco", "spectrum_cs"
MODIFIED LINE:
class "spectrum" module "hermes", "orinoco", "spectrum_cs"
That seems to be the key change. If I leave the line as stated in "original" my Socket card is seen as a LAN card. If I make the change given above, then it is seen as a WLAN card.
Does that make sense? Is my original line indeed what is stock to 1.21b? Or am I confused.
-
Just ordered an Asus WL-110. Supercheap (less than 40 bucks) and works great according to Basti (I will personally go administer physical punishment if this turns out not to be the case).
Cyril92 has the same card.

I don;t remember what it was in 1.21, but in 1.22 this card already has "spectrum" class instead of "network"

Will you be able to support the forth coming Linksys 54 mb card?

pretec something or another (was $19)

I've never managed to get my linksys wcf12 working with ANY ROM ... ever.

We've sold quite a few of the "new" id Origo cards (green/pink sticker ones).
Need following in wlan-ng.conf to get them recognsed :
card "OrigoV2" (or some other description, not important)
version "WLAN", "11Mbps_PC-Card_3.0", "ISL37100P", "Eval-RevA"
bind "prism2_cs"
After that they work great.
cardctl ident gives :
product info : "WLAN", "11Mbps_PC-Card_3.0", "ISL37100P", "Eval-RevA"
manfid : 0x000b, 0x7100
function: 6 (network)

OK, I'm adding ehtries for all these cards. I hope they are supported by hostap and will work out of the box on Cacko 1.22 ROM.

Linksys WCF11 v2.5
product info: "The Linksys Group, Inc.", "Wireless Network CF Card", "ISL37300P", "RevA"

function: 6 (network)

FYI, I had to disable "Auto Connect" to get my Origo WLan to connect
cardctl ident gave :
product info : "WLAN", "11Mbps_PC-Card_3.0", "ISL37100P", "Eval-RevA"
manfid : 0x000b, 0x7100
So I knew it was recognised, I guessed the problem was my WEP key, but I double (and then tripple) checked it.
When clicking on "connect" with the "Auto Connect" checked I got the card flashing and then an error .
When hitting connect with the "auto connect" unchecked I get the network connection list and then it works.
how bizzare !

I got a TEW-22CF (Trendnet)
product info "Wireless", "LAN Adapter", "Version 01.02", ""

doesn't work in 1.22 (applet comes up with "Intersil PRISM2 11 Mbps Wireless Adapter"- but the connect button in the settings app is grayed out)
any suggestions?

Please, do the following:
1. Edit /etc/pcmcia/hostap_cs.conf, remove entries for all cards, and then add the following entry for your card:
card "Trendnet TEW-22CF"
version "Wireless", "LAN Adapter", "Version 01.02", ""
bind "hostap_cs"
2. Reboot your Zaurus
3. When connecting, make sure that autoconnect option is turned off.

hi maslovsky
I just realized I had a typo in my cardctl of the SanDisk card which probably came into the 1.22 rom. I am really sorry ! Please correct it if possible when you do a hotfix. The correct output is:
product info: "SanDisk Corporation", "Wireless LAN Card",""
manfid: 0xd601, 0x0005
the current hostap_cs.conf entry works with a capital D in SanDisk.

i have a origo card with a pink sticker... but it doesnt work with cacko 1.22a.
cardctl ident says:
version "WLAN", "11Mbps_PC-Card_3.0", "ISL37100P", "Eval-RevA"
...
i unchecked auto-connect, entered the ess-id etc... but i cannot connect.
i tried to set up an ad-hoc network with the zaurus and my notebook: when i try to connect my laptop a software on my notebook shows me a connection with good signal... and when the zaurus gives up connecting the connection gets lost on my notebook also... so the card should work. it is able to connect but there must be a error.
please help me... i need wlan on my zaurus.
cheers, monvmentvm
