Title: Abuse Is Mocking Me
Post by: MrSquishy on December 05, 2004, 10:12:31 pm
I tried to get Abuse to run on Opie by adding the x11 feed (probably stupid, but I wanted to play Abuse and havent done so since the original).

I then tried it on GPE and made some more progress.  I downloaded the data files from here (http://www.labyrinth.net.au/~trandor/abuse/files/abuse_datafiles.tar.gz).
I extracted them into /mnt/card/usr/share/games/abuse and re-symlinked the whole directory.

Running it as
Code: [Select]
abuse.sdl -datadir /usr/share/games/abusehas it read all the data files, but then SDL gives its supremely helpful parachute deployed error.

Im running this on a collie, and the console spits out "Video 640x400 16bpp".
So I tried to run it with the -size switch.  I cant figure out what this wants.

I've tried
-size 320
-size 320x240
-size 320x200
-size320
-size320x240
-size320x200
-size 320x240x8
etc.

Nothing works.

Anyone able to get this to work, or get any further?

Does Abuse only work on a VGA screen?

Progress:

Running with -scale 1 sets it to output 320x200

Still get the SDL parachute, maybe its coming from something else.

I get the error (?) Unable to open light.tbl for writing.
