Title: No Apropiate Decoder For Mp3
Post by: rosebud on December 07, 2004, 06:10:56 am
What's a shame! When I install opie-mediaplayer from 3.5.2 feed I thik I can play my mp3 files without inconvenience, but every time the program told me: 'no apropiate decoder for that file". I need your advice, help-me please.

Thanks.

Did you install those libraries and dependencies?

I have the same problem. Installed all the libs and still no dice. I tried OMP2 also and it SIGBUS's when attempting to play a file. xmms does work however, so now I'm just confused.

I figured it out. You need to manually symlink the plugins if you installed them anywhere but root. Look in your /opt/QtPalmtop/plugins/codecs directory. There should be links pointing to wherever you installed the plugins.

Proper use of ipkg-link does NOT the problem.  On my 6000, I used aqpkg to install all xine-related plugins to sd, verified that they were all linked to root (as ipkg-link would do), and opieplayer2 STILL wouldn't play anything.  After reading uberjoe's message above, I went and symlinked them all from their installation location (/mnt/card/usr/lib/xine/1.0.0/plugins/) to /opt/QtPalmtop/plugins/codecs/  - voila! - opieplayer2 will now play wav and mp3 files...it still won't play streams (or I can't figure out how to tell it to)  - anyone have any luck with this?
