Is there a way to set up online feeds for thekompany rom? Do I need a different package manager?
I love the online feed system of Openzaurus and wondered if the same type of setup under thekompany was possible?
I searched, but the search engine came up blank, as did Google.
I see that there is a feed here for sharp compatible roms. Now if I can figure out how to make the standard 'Software' package manager use it that would be great, or if I can replace it with a different package manager that can that would work too.

Proto use to have one up but it disappeared when he did. Any Sharp compatible binaries should work with the tkc rom though.
You don't mention which Z you have. If it's a clamshell, I had made a full copy of Proto's feed before it disappeared. Perhaps it could be hosted on the zug?

Sorry I forgot to mention that. I use a 5500 for the time being.
The default package manager in thekompany rom sucks. I installed aqpkg and it is way better, but it always says "zcat: stdout: broken pipe" when I install with it. Most of the installs go ok but the error is worrysome. Am I missing a library or something?

The package manager in the tkc rom is the Sharp/Qtopia package manager (Proto and tkc had nothing to do with it). It lacks a few features but works reasonably well.
I don't know much of anything about aqpkg. I could never get it working on my system (including my old 5500). Plus, I was never sure if I should trust it (i.e. breaking compatibility with ipkg, etc.).

Aqpkg works relativly well on my 5500, providing more feed back than the ever-useless "ipkg says something went wrong" message that the packagemanager app provides. It also successfully installed several packages that failed under packagemanager. Cool.
Now if I could only find a PIM suite that uses the same format for its files as those used by the KDE-Pim package on my desktop.
