I\'m 5600 newbie. I purchased 10mbit Socket CF network card and installed it to do internet mail and minor browsing (works great). I would like to be able to \'see\' zaurus in \"My Network Places\" on my network.
I have the 5600 pluged into a linksys BEFSR41 DSL/Cable router (DHCP). I can ping both ways (5600--]my workstation and vice versa). Do I have to mount the zaurus filesystem using samba? If so what are the commands?
Thank
Tom

zack
That link is for the sl5500, but should work on 5600 too. The links could be old...get the latest smbmount.

I also have a SL5600 and recently got Samba working so that I can see my Zaurus in my Network Neighborhood (but on different versions of Windows). As soon as the network card is inserted to the Z it becomes visible because the Samba stuff is included with the 5600\'s release.
I wrote up the steps that I followed and posted them to this thread:

I want to retain usb0 \'sync\' function for email, contacts, tasks and calender.
Do I add new interface eth0 interface?

Followed all steps with one exception:
smb.conf \'interfaces = \' setting appended eth0 to existing usbd0 and this leaves
zarurs sync and file transfer intact.
In network neighborhood I can\'t connect using \'zarurshome\' but can connect using
it\'s network ip address (192.168.1.101home and 192.168.1.101system)

Even with the instuctions that I wrote up, I can still synch & use Zaurus file transfer via USB and Samba via ethernet (but not both at the same time). If I have the ethernet card in the CF slot and put the Z in the cradle then I get messages pop up on the Z saying that there is a IP address conflict.
Glad you got it working.

One more item:
I want to see zaurus root (\'/\') home directory on my XP workstation.
Where do I install the symlink to \'/\' -or- does smb.conf need to be modified to accomplish this? :?:
-
Run the following command as root:
ln -s / /home/samba/.root
Then the folder \'.root\' will point at the root of the Zaurus filesystem.

Thanks for all the advice.
I have configured my zaurus 5600 and it can be seen on the network and I can move files to and from easier and faster.
Thanks!!!!
