For those who wanted one and didn't get this one, mine on eBay is currently $255 and the expansion sleeve is only $51.

Your little expose made for interesting reading. I tried my best not to take offense when you questioned my motives for posting in "your thread". Apparently you feel that your name carries a lot of weight in this community so, surely I would want to try to associate my sale with you. Unfortunately I never heard of you and it never crossed my mind that I was doing anything other than creating another way for people to find out about my sale. You might not realise it but people often find forum posts through Google and never see other threads in the same forum.
I also tried to respect the amount of time and effort you obviously invested in researching for your post. I could not, however, understand how you could justify posing as a potential buyer and submit questions about my product for your attempt to discredit my auction. This doesn't seem "tacky" to you?
The final straw and the reason why I felt I needed to reply to your attack was your so called analasys of my valuation of the products I'm selling. You disagree with the value I placed on my auctions, which is fine. You apparently put a lot of though into exactly what YOUR estimated value would be. You do not have the right, though, to question my motives and ethics because you disagree with me. It is standard practice in advertising to add up the retail "value" of items and advertise the total "value" as such. It doesn't matter what the seller paid for the items originally. Best Buy does not advertise a computer with a value of what they paid for it. Your allegations that I "stretch the truth" to "maximize my own profits" at the expense of the community not only shows that you believe your opinion to be the only one worth considering, but borders on slander.
If your motivation was to discuss differences of opinion you would have contacted me openly and honestly rather than building a series of public accusations. Apparently you were more interested in insulting my integrity and displaying your own high moral fiber by degrading mine. Now who is giving the community a bad face?

Gaines,
Again, thank you for your positive contributions here on the ZUG during your stay. We wish you the very best both in your Ebay auctions and personally in your future. The Zaurus User Group was better for having known you.
God Bless,

I came across this thread while searching via Google for information on Zaurus handhelds.
I was so taken aback by the thorough rudeness that NeuroShock exhibited towards Gaines that I felt that I had to say something.
By the standards of communities that I have participated in, Gaines's crossposting would be considered about as serious an offense as jaywalking. Perhaps the ZUG community operates under unusual rules. Perhaps there was a history of misbehavior, though from your post this seems to have been an isolated incident.
Even if that is so, NeuroShock, no offense could have justified your vituperative, self-righteous reply. The sheer viciousness of it is repellent.
If posting messages with that kind of tone is the way that you wish to represent your community, so be it, but if you wish to create a welcoming environment for prospective users and fellow Linux enthusiasts, I do not think that that is the way to do it.
