Title: Stop Apps From Adding .desktop Entries
Post by: systemparadox on December 13, 2004, 11:58:56 am
All the files I want on the docs tab are located on my sd card, which is checked automatically. When I save a file using the text editor (actually any program), it creates a .desktop file in /root/Documents/text/plain (it creates the text/plain (or whatever) dir as well), and consequently I end up with two entries in the doctab for the same file. One of which is usually called something like: /mnt/card/Documents/blahdeblah/etc/stuff.txt, the other just stuff.txt.

Any suggestions?

Also, does anyone know when we are likely to get that doctab overhaul?
Is it going to be a 'files' tab (like the 6000 sharp rom has, i think (they arent downgrading to a doctab if they run oz are they?))

Thanks
Simon

I asked this question a while ago, and the answer was that there were no plans for it currently, as the Opie development team is quite small.

An addition to that was that patches are welcome, against which I find it is very hard to argue. . .

Doesn't medium mount allow you to limit the directories which are searched for files to appear in the Documents tab?

yes, but my problem is that whenever i make a new file with say, text editor, it adds a .desktop entry to /root/Documents, which creates a duplicate doctab entry until i restart opie.
