Title: Openzaurus And Intellisync 1.43e
Post by: rumble on December 21, 2004, 10:02:17 am
People,

I have installed openzaurus 3.5.2 onto my zaurus sl-5500 and intellisync 1.43E onto my win2k machine.

now I can ping the zaurus and when I press the sync button things start to happen

BUT

intellisync on the win2k box complains that the version of intellisync on the zaurus does not match and then exits.

Anyone solved this problem?

Thanks in advance

I think I recall having to change a line in the "version" file, although I'm sorry to say I don't recall where the file is or what you need to change it to.  You should search the forums though, as I know the answer is here.

Thanks for the reply, but I have not found any more information regarding editing the /etc/version file.

Can you help?

Thanks

Looks like its the /home/root/systeminfo/linkver file.

If you have this file, it needs to contain "1.13" (with our without the quotes, I'm not sure).  If you don't have it, you can create it with this command:

Code: [Select]
mkdir /home/root/systeminfo && echo "1.13" >/home/root/systeminfo/linkver
See this thread:

Hope this helps.

Wow!

That easily fixed the version mismatch.

I attemped to sync and intellisync found all these items to synchronise.

BUT

when the sync was finished I checked my Z and there was nothing there

now what happens?>?

Thanks

Instead of starting a new thread I thought I'd just ask in this one.

I just flashed OpenZaurus 3.5.2 on my SL-5600 (first time OZ user)...Everything looks good, even my wifi cf card worked right out of the box; however I can't seem to sync.  My issue doesn't appear to be a version mismatch or anything else that I've found threads on here.

I can ping and ssh to my z from my wife's winxp box...the box is 192.168.129.1 and the z is 192.168.129.2.  I've made sure that the Zaurus Manager has USB - TCP/IP selected and the settings are correct but when I try "Start->Programs->Sharp Zaurus->Intellisync" it just sits at "Processing Records" for a while and then errors out as if it can't see the Z at all.

Any ideas?

Thanks

What reads the error message?

What happens when you hit sync button on the cradle?

Nothing happens at all when I hit the sync button on the cradle.  I have to manually click on "IntelliSync" in windows.  The error messages is rather long....I'll try it again and jot it down so that I can post it.

[edit]
An error occurred while trying to connect to the zaurus

Please remove the zaurus from the cradle or serial cable and reconnect.
Wait approximately 30 seconds.....blah blah blah

Is anyone still experiencing the "unauthorized system" message in 3.5.2?  Looking through past posts, the answer seemed to be setting "Qtopia 1.7" or "Opie 1.0" in the Security setting.  But, on mine, that prevents sync'ing completely.  Having to press "Allow" a bazillion times won't be a show-stopper for me, but it is REALLY annoying.

TIA. . .
