Just lumbered over to the tt ftp site and noticed that the Qtopia 2.1.0 source is available.
Time to play!
-
Smells like VICTORY (http://ftp://ftp.trolltech.com/pub/pub/qtopia/source/)
I hate to have to wait until Jan to take a look. No compiled ROM's either.
-
Damn interesting, i wonder if ROM will be soon else, i bet it might motivated me to compile and do something =P (but WoW is taking so much time, damn game
-
The roms will be available soon. but the roms contain the commercial version of Qtopia, so you can use and develop those commercial closed source applications, like from Tkc.
There are a few commercial applications not available in the GPL edition, that will be on the rom. hang tight. sorry it's taking so long with this

Do you have a list of the differences available anywhere? I'm still a bit confused.
-
A possibly dumb question.
Will there be a rom available for the 700/760/860?
Most importantly to me is 860
If so, will this also be around before the new year?
-
So should I take silence to mean it is not meant for the 700/800 series?

I sure its more of a no one knows or no one is authorized to say than just a plain old no.
-
You are probably right. I haven't been keeping up with the politics involved.
As an 860 user in Japan who needs to keep Japanese support, the Trolltech option seems to be the best/only choice. I will just try and be patient.

Only choice? As compared to what?
I personally use Cacko (1.21b) with the Japanese support/dict ipks, and it works fine for me.
Also, it's possible that Sharp's Japanese input methods may not work with Qtopia 2.1.0 (I don't know how much 2.1.0 has changed from 1.5.x).

You are correct about Cacko. I just don't know what the advantage of Cacko is over the Sharp rom. Plus, it adds support for Crylic (sorry if bad spelling) fonts etc. that I don't need.
I hope Japanese input works with 2.1.0. I guess I will have to wait and see.
