Title: Zaurus Software Programmers
Post by: g333 on December 22, 2004, 07:29:51 pm
I'm going to start writing programs for the Zaurus SL-C3000 on my XP machine. At the moment the only way I know how to do this is by writing Javascript and running it through a web page on Opera 7.3.

I have kind of found another way to edit ipk files on XP. First you change the ipk extension to tar.gz and slowly open the file using WinRAR. I'm using version 3 of WinRAR.

You can find the program icons and change them but I havent tried repackaging yet.

If someone else has advice for people like me to write software for the SL-C3000 please help.

I use the free "7-Zip" to look in ipks.  All you have  to do is right click and then open archive.  I really hated renaming.   It may be a little quicker than winRAR??

You can open the archives with any half-decent archiving software in Windows, I think.
All you should have to do is associate the .ipk extension with the app of your choice

When I use the Zeditor I can check all the folders on my Zaurus. Is there a way to see the same folders in XP? I want to start playing with stuff.

For the answer to seeing XP folders on the Zaurus: The answer is to use smbmount. See the answer in the FAQ (http://www.zaurususergroup.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=FAQ&file=index&myfaq=yes&id_cat=12&categories=Networking&parent_id=0#102).  Also look at how to access Samba over USB.  (http://www.zaurususergroup.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=phpWiki&file=index&pagename=Samba%20over%20non-USB) I haven't tried accessing Windows shares on the Zaurus myself but I know the reverse works okay.
