Title: Cf To Pc Card Adapter

If you put a pccard with usb 2.0 connectors you have a usb 2.0 host, don't you?

EDIT: without the good voltage though, it delivers only 3.3V

That's my understanding anyway.

And Definitely no it won't drive a USB 2.0 interface card or we'd all be using it... They are CARDBUS (32-bit) and not compatible.

I just ordered one and will post on all the compatible cards that work when I receive it (I've got pcmcia usb 2.0 interface, lan adaptator and wifi adaptator)

Post by: Reaper on June 14, 2005, 12:19:23 am: I think it will work. Most RF cards (GPRS, EDGE, CDMA etc.) are 16-bit as soon as they don't need a great transfer. Cardbus cards have a golden strip near edge - it's a good way to distinguish them. This card doesn't have one.

But I think that there are CF versions for most of these cards. As well as CF USB host, CF CDMA and GPRS modems do exist.

Is there any CF CDMA card that can be made to work on Verizon?
The only CF CDMA card I've seen is only for Sprint, and their coverage is nonexistant here.
GSM doesn't work up here either, because 1.9ghz doesn't have the range. Only Verizon
works in the fringe areas of Northern California, and they don't sell any CF cards.

Post by: daemon1 on June 18, 2005, 10:34:55 pm: i got one back in 2002 and have used it with an sl5500 without any probs since.. the main card i used it with was a dlink pcmcia wireless card...but have tried with an orinoco and an ne2000 netword card. only had to change configs to load correct modules for the cards..

apart from that it all works ok for me... my understanding is pcmcia and cf have direct pin to pin mapping, only diff is the size of the cards and connectors... so thoeretically any pcmcia should work ok.

Here in Russia CDMA standard isn't welcome (they just want to have transparent networks ) so the only CDMA CF modem that is available and is able to work is Ubiquam UM-100 modem sold under Skylink local brand name. It's damn big, damn heavy (due to battery pack; without is, it's said, modem will burn our Z's by overcurrent of a CF slot) and damn expensive (almost $400). It uses IMT-MC-450 (cdma2000) standard as a network protocol and 1XRTT, IS-707 as data transfer protocols (couldn' figure it out better ). We've also heard 'bout other CDMA modems but the only portable wireless modem standard that's really widespread here is 15-20 kbps GPRS...
