Title: Kernel Panic
Post by: kurupt3k on December 29, 2004, 08:00:40 am
Ok, i just downloaded all the files for the OZ onto the root dir of my 1gig SD card. I flashed the rom and when it tried to load it give me:

Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount fs on 01:00 or along that line.

I then tried to restore using the backup/restore program that came with my 5600.
I went to update USB on the maintance menu during boot up and selected USB. I then tried to restore on the application but it would not make a connection.

I would try to install a different ROM now but i cant even load the Zaurus to do so.

What should I do?

Thanks

EDIT: ok now iv installed the Sharp ROM. But im still wondering why i get the kernel panic error with OZ?

As far as I'm aware it's only possible to flash the Zaurus using a CF card, not an SD card. If you were in fact using a CF card then check the md5sums of the files you downloaded.

Did you use the SD-card to restore the Sharp rom?

I have never tried to flash with an SD-card. I know some people have done it successfully but many have had problems. I know of no one who has done it with a 1GB card! The size of your card could be the problem or you may simply need to use a CF-card in your case. If you have access to a CF-card you should try that.

I restored the sharp ROM to the internal memory. Im running wetapon now which i like alot, but i just need to install gcc and im happy. I aint got access to a cf card and my wifi card takes up that slot.
