Title: How To Get Kismet With A Socket Wifi Card?
Post by: vinfong on December 30, 2004, 12:10:24 am
I am using a 860 with RC8 and socket low power wifi card, installed the Kismet from the RC8 feed.
I have added the user name into the config file. But I don't know what to put as source in the config. So Kismet can't run.
Could anyone provide instructions in how to make Kismet work as a wifi ap sniffer?
Thanks in advacne

Vincent

Hmm, I'm using the same card and am experiencing problems with channel hopping - it doesn't hop, seems to make one pass then stops. Are you having success with kismet scanning the channels?

I finally have gotten Kismet to work on RC9. Although I don't think it's a ROM issue. As stated in my above post, my problem was that while Kismet would run it wouldn't channel hop. It would stop on channel 1.

To solve this I installed the ipk from the Kismet site here (http://www.kismetwireless.net/download.shtml) It is version 2005-01-R1. Scroll down the page & look for the ARM Binary section.
It installed fine but didn't like being on the SD so I had to install on /
This release seems to play much better with the Socket cards. I've been running for several days now without problems.

Cheers,
Jerry
