Title: Sl-5500... Flashing Power Light But No Power?
Post by: FuZion on December 30, 2004, 03:44:41 pm
Hi everyone,

Post No 1: A problem...

I have been looking at some of the ROMs available. I successfully installed theKompany ROM 1.0 final & had a play. Quite nice. I tried out v2.0 alpha3. With the provided 'Backup' tool complaining about not enough memory (Or close to that) to make a backup of a clean installation I decided that can't stay. Shema, that looks nice too.

I installed OPIE 3.5.2. Not as flashy as the Kompany ROM but seems nice & stable. Then onto the Cacko ROM.

I began to follow the steps shown in another thread (https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=3159). However, after removing my battery & reconnecting my AC Power lead the SL-5500 battery light is blinking (About 2 flashes per second) & the Zaurus will now not power on. No blame is pointed at the Cacko team, I didn't even get to the software. D'oh!

Thinking that I may somehow have a corrupt ROM, I attempted to re-flash back to the tried & tested Kompany ROM v1.0. Holding down 'D' & 'C' & running the flash procedure, the mail & power lights stayed on as if a flash was in progress.

After this was completed, I tried to turn back on my Z & the power light has resumed it's blinking.

Blinking hell!!

Does anyone know what has gone wrong & what I can do to fix it?

Thanks, FuZion.

WOAH WOAH WOAH!!!

Hold the fort!!! I stumbles across my users manual, read the trouble shoting page & it suggested that there may a problem with the battery. Fair enough I though, I'll give the contacts a clean.

No, it's better than that. I only went I put the battery in upside down :-D

What a way to introduce myself eh! I've left the original post unedted for comedy value.

FuZion.

good post...

maybe you should get a label maker so you can clearly mark which side is up
