Title: 5500 And Se T637 Problem With Ir
Post by: netog on January 05, 2005, 11:06:47 am
I have a 5500 with cacko ROM, which said was fixed to work with SE phones using IR.
I am using a SE T637 with GPRS enabled.
I am trying to use it as IR modem with GPRS but it just does not work at all.
I have tested the IR connection beaming some contacs and it works just fine, my phone can receive the contacs my zaurus is sending.

My zaurs qpe-pppd-log files just says : "connect script failed".
I think it could be the ATZ command...

any idea?

Thanks a lot

Currently, i am running bluetooth and boy it is way better than the old irda.

let me tell you how i managed to create a connection with irda to irda and used the cellphone as if it was a modem.

for zaurus id and at&t user (bought out by cingular), -
first off     "*99#" without quotes is used as a dialing number.(i called tech support and asked them what number is used to dial for digital signal if using a pda.)

secondly, use autodetect servers

thirdly, no init commands

foruthly, no hardware control

i found connection with irda to my siemens s56 a bit tedious and sometime required me rebooting both cellphone and zaurus to get the connection to work.  aligning both irda ports was also tough to keep together.  it was a headaceh just having them together.  So i am using bluez drivers and a taiwan made bluetooth ambicom card and am very pleased with the results.

post if you get it to work...call your tech because they might be using a dialer number which is different.

one last very important thing....do not use username or password leave them blank when dialing.
