Title: Opie Player 2 Crash
Post by: uberjoe on January 05, 2005, 02:46:05 pm
When attempting to start opie player 2 from the gui I get the familiar "could not locate application x" error, and when I try from the command line I get this:

Quote
$ opieplayer2
: QuickLauncher invoked as: opieplayer2
: WARNING: Could not create application main window

Has anyone had any success with this app? I lnow that xmms works but I dislike it's playlist handling intensly, and it doesn't do movies well. I'd love to get omp2 working, and there is nothing in the release notes indicating that there is a problem. Any thoughts?

Did you remember to install a skin? Opieplayer2 works alot like xine, you need to install alot of skins and libs.

PS: If you get it working, I'd be curious to see how well it works with movies, I didn't get that working and moved to xmms, but mplayer is horribly slow.

Yes the skins are installed, and the symlinks for them are also good. I have made some progress with opieplayer1. It will play mp3s but not mpeg video. and you have to make the symlinks manually for the plugins.

I installed libxine1 and a bunch of the plugins. I don't know which ones I need so I installed everything that looked good, maybe I'll just install them all and space is not a really concern on my sd card. I'll let you know how it goes.

i installled lixine everything but the fonts. It omp2 plays back video, but choppy..audio drops out entirley. I think I need to point mp3 - I only tried an ffmpeg mp4/mp3 avi- decoding at lib mad. anyone already done this and can tell me where and how to do that? feedback on ogg stuff would help too, as the xine stuff wanted a different libvorbisidec undr 3.5.2.I forced it. anyone else?

FYI it works fine for me (as in it runs without crashing, not sure about quality as I use xmms normally).

I installed all of the skins, then installed omp2 itself and it added all of its dependencies iirc. Then ipkg-link and it was fine.

P.S. Try mplayer (from the feed) for video, it works quite well (pretty fast).

OMP2 works great after ikpg-link ing everything, thanks for that.  BTW You mentioned mplayer. When I try mplayer I am asked for a conf file. Where do I find one or how do I write one? I've never used mplayer before and I do not know how to configure it.

I did 'touched' the conf file (/root/.mplayer/config) and added one line to force the sound codec:

ac=mad

just a silly question why is mplayer in the opie feed? can I use it for gpe? or do I need to recompile it?

I think it uses the Opie SDL which is why it's there.

You'll probably need to recompile it, or perhaps just specify a different video decoder?

I'm not sure, sorry.

Heyho!

So, how do you get opieplayer2 to work? I have it installed, and ran ipkg-link (checked the links), but if I try to fire it up from a commindline via ssh, I get

Code: [Select]
root@collie:~# /mnt/ram/opt/QtPalmtop/bin/opieplayer2
Cannot find font definition file /usr/local/qt-embedded/lib/fonts/fontdir - is $QTDIR set correctly?

When I set QTDIR to /opt/QtPalmtop, I get the error ueberjoe reported. I can start it by tapping on the icon, but it won't show any mp3 or ogg files, which is what I wanna hear  I have installed:

Code: [Select]
Configuring libxine-plugin-ao-out-oss
Configuring libxine-plugin-decode-mad
Configuring libxine-plugin-dmx-audio
Configuring libxine-plugin-dmx-mpeg
Configuring libxine-plugin-inp-file
Configuring libxine1
Configuring opie-mediaplayer2

and the symlinks are fine. Thanks for any help, xmms isn't working very well for me...

Cheers
Philipp

Uhh, should have mentioned that, right? I just assumed everybody would assume that I have the same as everybody else... 3.5.2 that is, it's just a fresh install..

Well what I did was downloaded all the libxine related packages and the skins, and the player itself to a memory card and installed them from the local packages section in AQpackage (not opie package manager!) and then ran ipkg-link mount /mnt/card

I was never able to get it running when I installed them from the feed via my wifi card. Also I'm running hentges rom w/opie 1.1.8 from coredump. I don't know if that makes a difference from the stock 3.5.2 rom.

Hmm, that's just a tad much. I don't want to use cardfs, so I'm stuck with my internal ram, which might not be enough to install ALL of the libxine related stuff... I'll try anyway, thanks for your help.

Ok I touched  /.mplayer/config as well as several more files it complained about, and now I get this error

Quote
$ mplayer /mnt/card/movie/2.mpeg
MPlayer 1.0pre3try2-3.4.2 © 2000-2003 MPlayer Team
: No such file or directory
Reading config file /usr/etc/mplayer/mplayer.confReading config file /home/root/.mplayer/config
Reading /home/root/.mplayer/codecs.conf: Font /home/root/.mplayer/font/font.desc loaded successfully! (0 chars)
Using usleep() timing
Input config file /home/root/.mplayer/input.conf parsed: 0 binds
mplayer: symbol lookup error: mplayer: undefined symbol: ogg_sync_init
Playing /mnt/card/movie/2.mpeg.

I am assuming this has something to do with having blank codecs.conf, font.desc, and input.conf. I don't know what is supposed to be in those. could you check out your and post them please?

No these are blank for me too iirc, looks like the error's something to do with ogg, though I didn't think mpegs had ogg soundtracks...?. Can you post the mpeg (or a part thereof) and I'll try it.

Not sure otherwise as I've never tried running an ogg.

I can start it by tapping on the icon, but it won't show any mp3 or ogg files, which is what I wanna hear sad.gif I have installed:

So it runs, but just won't find your files. That's not likely to be a lib issue. You know you have to click on the music tab, then wait for a (sometimes long) while, while it searches. Also, are your files in an unusual location? I've got some in /mnt/cf/media/*.mp3 and they are all found without issues.

Lardman, thanks for you answer, but that's not the problem. I can manually selecte the files, but they won't be played. I've opened another thread, so keep talking about mplayer here

Cheers
