Hi all,
I recently purchased a c3k from geekstuff4u.com. I have previously owned an sl-5500 which I sold yesterday to help pay for my new baby
However, I am extremely dismayed by a couple of things. First off, the rom that came on my zaurus SUCKS. I am so incredibly anxious for an OZ or other rom for my new zaurus. Right now, it is an 800 dollar paperweight. All I can do is some incredibly useless pim functions, and play mp3s. Until I get a proper linux distribution on it, is is a glorified calculator. I would do this myself, but I am not skilled enough yet to take up such a task.
So here is my question:
I have noticed that many other people seem to have access to a terminal on their c3k! I do not! Why is that? I suppose that I have a unique, and singularly useless rom installed on my zaurus. Can anyone offer a suggestion as to what I can do to at least get access to a terminal? It would be too much to ask to actually be able to get a more fully functional linux running on this thing until something a bit more tailored to my device comes along.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Ryan Sackler.

Hi,
Not sure what rom you have - take a look at settings and system info and let me know. In terms of advice on terminal - qpeterminal.ipk works fine but if you want to trash it and get a backup including keymapper, terminal etc then take a look at
http://www.trisoft.de/en_c3000howto.htm (http://www.trisoft.de/en_c3000howto.htm)
Please note, i have used this backup without any problems but i cannot ensure your device will be the same.
Also there is a very good guide here for getting started....you may, of course already have seen this...

The terminal doesn't come installed. It's on the CD.
Took me a couple days of "This thing sucks where's the terminal", too.
I also followed the Full Debian HOW-TO (https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=9237) for putting debian on it so I have a pretty functional linux OS on there without much trouble or any destruction.

Hah, Thanks to both of you. Right on the money

Did you put Debian on it?
