Title: package installation with Cacko
Post by: Anonymous on March 26, 2004, 03:11:25 am
Hello !

I have the 860 with the Cacko ROM (Daniela 1.2) working fine, except
that I cannot find where to install the ipk files I downloaded so they will
be found by the package installer.

Help anyone ?

Thanks in advance...

I leave my ipk files in /mnt/cf/pkg, but I do not remember if I had to set up this path.

I figured out that the reason why the package manager could not find the downloaded packages is that their extension has been automatically changed in the process of saving the files in the 860.  So the .ipk original extension is changed into .tar.  After renaming manually the files back to .ipk it is working fine with the package manager.
Since I downloaded the packages directly from Zaurus Feed into the 860 there must be a setting to adjust somwhere.
Any idea on how to change this automatic modification of the original extension?
Thanks for help.

this happened to me back when I used an old version of Mozilla Firebird, which  recognized the file format as a .tar.gz . Try and look if there is a way to explicitly define the Mime-Type of your files... or maybe it\'s the feeder who has to set up his webserver.
