Title: update to Android 12 - Does Planet Updater Work For Anyone?
Post by: ArchiMark on September 15, 2022, 10:16:16 am
Hi,

Someone on the IGG Astro comments page said they updated Astro to Android 12.

I tried using the Planet Updater app yesterday, but I get message:

Quote
Error Checking for update.

java.net.ConnectException: Failed to connect to pulsar.planetcom.co.uk/93.189.6.10:443

Tried several times.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Mark

The website pulsar.planetcom.co.uk appears down, (according to https://www.isitdownrightnow.com and a couple of others), so I don't think the problem is at your end, but I wouldn't have a clue when it will be back up again.
Not sure if this thread is relevant or helpful or completely unrelated:  https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?topic=36786.msg298591#msg298591

I wouldn't know about IGG comments, I tend to avoid it, it's a bit toxic for my tastes  :o , but maybe they found another source or method for the download and install.

I suspect they're lying. There is no Android 12 yet, Planet is working on shipping the Astro and getting Linux going. The update server is down, correct. I have no idea when it will return, but it's due to a hardware fault.

I have been working on a cloud-based OTA service https://github.com/shymega/planet_ota_service (https://github.com/shymega/planet_ota_service), so if anyone has any thoughts let me know. The idea is for this to replace OTA on all Planet devices.

I think it's possible to flash the modem too. I just need further information.

I haven't yet started the LineageOS port for Astro, as I'm waiting to sign an NDA for the source code- including for CoDi!

Thanks, MC and Dom for your input. Very helpful and appreciated!

Good to know, MC, about the site that checks if a site is working and agree about IGG....it's a jungle over there....  :)

And good point, Dom, about Android 12 availability..... :)

And will check out your github page when I have some time.

Thanks again!
