Software / Kde-pim/pi 2.0.16 Release

I think I have a new buglet in 2.0.25 that was not in 2.0.23 (missed .24, you guys are fast!).

The "OK" hardware button will not handle / stop an alarm.  The "Cancel" button will suspend for the indicated time period.  I have to press the "OK" button on the touch screen and it works.

Hi slocaus!

Quite strange.
It works for me.
What does happen when you press  "OK" ?

Does the alam dialog have the keyboard input fucus (i.e. the titel is highlighted) when you press OK?

z.

Hi Zautrix,

Nothing happens when I press hardware "OK" button, and yes, the alarm dialog does have focus.  Stylus tap on screen immediately dismisses alarm;  I know it takes two taps if the dialog does not have focus.

This is the first bug I have found in some time, which is why you have not heard from me in a while, though I have been using releases as they come out.  <shrug>

Note this is with a SL-5500, old tkc ROM.

Thank you!

Software / Kde-pim/pi 1.9.14 Release

I've discovered one problem with KO/PI 1.9.14: Double-clicking in the agenda brings up a "new event" dialog, but the title of the event is taken from an old event, the date always seems to be the current date (not the date you clicked) and the time to be 12:00 .
I really apprecieate this PIM-suite - use it all the time.
/Jesper
I have this same problem, and cannot edit current to-do because of it.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Unison?

I need unison to make my C860 really useful.  I'm working on compiling it but if someone already has it done that would be better.
I'm using this on a 5500 with tkc ROM, and a Mandrakelinux desktop.

I know there's an option to jump to the correct time within the views - this might also move to the right date, but as I have that option turned off, I can't confirm.
Yes, when jump to time is set, it also goes to the current date and time when started.

Software / Aethera PIM from TKC -- Syncing with Zaurus
« on: October 20, 2004, 10:51:50 pm »

Aethera, a project sponsored by TKC, lists upcoming support for syncing with the Zaurus. Which version and ROM are not specified. Has anyone head anything about this or have any updates?

 Aethera Roadmap

I've been waiting well over a year!  It took 18 months before their mail app offered IMAP that they said was included when I bought it.  Add 5 to 100 years for TKC projections.    Probably Sept 3004 is what they mean, the way TKC works.

Trash their stuff and get KO/Pi with the address book and organizer that offers synching for linux and windows.  Great apps, GREAT people behind the apps.  And it WORKS!

General Discussion / 5 GB MicroDrive

You need to use fat16 and not fat 32; 'course the Z can see ext2 as well, but  windows cannot.

My apologies, humour me and state it again so that I might understand it. I can't see the problem.

All seems to make sense to me too, lardman;  whatever you missed that Luke-JR2 is wanting, I missed it too!  <shrug>

You cannot install that upgrade on your 5000!  And even if you could, you could not synch with Linux.

That was the point.  There IS NO sync with Linux, period, from Sharp.

As they say in New England area USA,
"You can't get there from here."

Look at this page:
http://myzaurus.com/ROMupdate5.asp

NOTE the last bullet point under "Limitations"[/i]

I do synch KDE PIM/Pi Korg with linux, I use Unison to copy my addresses to KAB, and I use rsync to backup my entire Zaurus to my desktop, including speadsheets, documents, movies, photos, etc.  Transfers to the Zaurus are via scp, or copy to a CF card.  Where there is a will there is a way, thanks to Linux.

There is a detailed ssh howto available at

Thanks zautrix!

I was going to suggest "man ssh".

....and I can only hold one hand at a time....

Why rsync?  Just use the built in sync betwen KO/Pi and KOrganizer!

My settings (Menu, Synchronize, Configure)
I created a new profile named KOrg Mdk.
Sync preferences  * Force: Take local entry always
* Show summary after sync
* Write back file

Profile kind
* Remote file (w/ download/upload command)

Presync command
scp user@my.pc.domain.net:/home/<user>/.kde/share/apps/korganizer/mycalendar.ics /home/tmp/mycalendar.ics

Local temp file
/home/temp/mycalendar.ics

Postsync command
scp /home/tmp/mycalendar.ics user@my.pc.domain.net:/home/<user>>/.kde/share/apps/korganizer/mycalendar.ics /home/tmp/mycalendar.ics

I have KOrganizer on my desktop (Mandrake 10.1 Cooker) defined to use "mycalendar.ics" as its resource.

You have to have generated ssh keys on the Zaurus and the desktop so they can connect without needing password via scp.

Yo slocaus,

I've got a gentoo box (actually 2 gentoo and 1 slackware) and I use kontact within fluxbox.  what verbage do you use to unison.  I tried it once and there were no errors, but I didn't notice any changes.
@bluedevils
I copy /home/zaurus/kdepim/apps/kabc/std.vcf to /home/<user>/.kde/share/apps/kabc/std.vcf

After my initial import of the address csv into KA/Pi on the Zaurus, I do all my addressbook editing on the Z for consistency, and then fire up unison in a window and then always copy Z to desktop.
