Zaurus - pdaXrom / Dual Booting pdaX from SD
« on: July 16, 2004, 09:10:28 pm »
And not to pick nits, but a previous post that answered the 'how to format' question left out the fdisk step.  A new SD card will have a FAT16 partition ID and should be changed to type 83 prior to format.

This looks like a fun project.  I'm going to give it a try with the next release.

FWIW, a combination of the Home key + power on button on the back has worked for me.

The 760 setting worked, good call.  Any idea why?

OK, I tried it on my 860 w/o success.  The file doesn\'t want to stay attached, the contents are below:

And I think, the non-X runlevel should be 2 and not 5.

I was sort of wondering why it comes up in 5 even tho it stops at the prompt, but why not 3?

pdaXrom has a 3 finger salute for this:  hold down the calendar and adress buttons and press the backspace (bs) key.  It will kill the xserver and return you to the prompt.

Thanks, for the quick reponse.  I guess I should have figured that, having found the Ctl and Alt reference, but maybe it should have an explicit FAQ entry anyway?

Thanks again

Zaurus - pdaXrom / pdaXrom 1.0.5 released...

I got my 860 4 days ago and am playing with it almost continously.  I am struck by the fact that the Zaurus has more horsepower, and RAM, and storage than my first PC.  My first several PCs, in fact.  I am still amazed by what it represents.

And the new ROM is great, thanks to all.  I would really like to be able to exit from X interface however.  Is there any way to get back to the naked prompt other than with a reboot?
