New products and alternatives / $98 Zaurus Alternative: Hivision Mininote
« on: September 05, 2008, 04:14:46 am »
New on the IFA Berlin. This is insanely cheap. They really plan to ship it for $98.

Quick specs:
HiVision miniNote: MIPS based processor, WiFi, 1GB flash storage, 3 USB ports, Ethernet, SDHC card reader, audio in and out, voice-chat, skype, multi-tabbed Firefox browser. A sign on the video for a similar model shows: 400 MHz, 128/64 MB RAM, 1GB Nand Flash, 7" WVGA 800x480, 802.11 b/g.

On the down side might be that there is no support for Adobe Flash

Off Topic forum / Raedius Runs On Linux
« on: January 24, 2008, 01:56:55 pm »
Hi,

I just thought you should know this, as this is not mentioned in the public specs. I'm interested in the polymer display technology for some time already but today I came across this video at youtube which must haven been filmed on the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona some days ago. In the end of the video the guy asks what OS is running on it and sales representative says that it's Linux.

Very cool and powerful mobile, just look at the specs:

OMG please let's hype it, so they stay with Linux... because the guy says in the end that there will be other OS options, too.

Well, the title says all... r197@C860-SP8. I did search the forum but I did not find anything. It's just that my volume is zero and I cannot move it up.

I managed today to make the blackdown j2sdk 1.3.1 work under X/QT. It just worked out of the box without any hassle. I just downloaded the ipk from http://radio.weblogs.com/0102385/categorie...03/06.html#a533 and followed the instructions.

A larger swing app I've tested is working fine so far: http://jipe.sourceforge.net
Maybe it's no eclipse, but it has got syntax highlighting in color, auto indenting, code completition etc.

Just the curly braces issue has to be resolved xterm problems in X/QT and curly braces But anyway it's much nicer than any other zaurus ide like minde eide, etc..

Sharp ROMs / Anycom Bluetooth CF-2000 problems on cacko 1.21b
« on: August 04, 2004, 01:12:24 pm »
Hello Zaurus community,

I'm absolutely desperate about my Anycom CF-2000 bluetooth card (OXTLSE039). At first glance everything is fine. I insert it and then the led is turned on for a while. But then the card isn't working. I've read all threads about it I could find, but I didn't find any similar problem. It simply has no MAC address.

I have a Zaurus SL-C860, cacko 1.21b, 512MB SD. Please help!!!

Thanks
