Zaurus - pdaXrom / How Do I Grab Silkscreen Keys

I'm working on a tiny tiny mplayer frontend for pdaXii13 that will do nothing but let me use the controls available in portrait mode and save filepositions upon exit. So, apart from scroolwheel and ok + cancel, there is the five screen buttons that I'd like to be able to use in my (python) application, and then restore back to XLaunchers afterwards.

And I'd like to temporary disable screen rotation while mplayer is running, and enable it back afterwards. Anyone who ever rotated the screen while a video was playing with bvdd knows why.

I tried to run xmodmap to remap said keys but that didn't work, xmodmap says they've been remapped, but they haven't. So I need another method.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Installing Rox To Pdaxii13 Base

I found that I really don't need everything in pdaXii13 full so i went for base instead. I do like rox however, but I can't get it to run.
After installing rox, rox-session and the missing dependecies gnome-vfs, dbus & dbus-glib I get the following error when I try to run rox:

/usr/apps/ROX-Filer/Linux-armv5tel/ROX-Filer: relocation error: /usr/lib/libgnomevfs-2.so.0: undefined symbol: g_thread_pool_set_sort_function

I guess there has been some version mismatch. Anyone know how to grab the right ones?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Remapping Of The "super" Key In Pdaxii13

I'm using the very, very excellent pdaxii13 on my C3100. There is one customization that I can't get to work however: I like to move the Super key functionality from the right kanji key to the Calendar key. (I write a lot on my z and for all my previuos ROMs I've gotten used to assign Swedish character ä to this key). I made changes to spitz.xmodmap and remapping the Alt key to Address key works fine (I use left kanji for å), but Super key functionality won't come to the Calendar key. It just disappears from right kanji key and Calendar key ends up doing nothing.
Any help appriciated!

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Bluetooth Driver Problems

My Ambicom BT card (LSE039) won't work. Cardctl identifies the card OK. The problem is with the driver. Here's the errors you get from 'modprobe bluecard_cs':

It looks to me like the driver is all broken, is there a fix?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Suspend / Screen Blanking After Inactivity Time

The settings for suspending and turn off screen after a specific time are not working for me on my C3100. This is very annoying since a mistakenly pushed on button will drain the battery since the unit never goes back to sleep again.

Suggestions?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Logged Out From Gpe At Suspend/resume

Sometimes when I suspend GPE has crashed (or logged me out anyway) when I resume (I get the login screen). I have nailed the problem down to being related to running certain apps, namely:
AbiWord
Sylpheed

Whenever any of these apps are running this problem occurs. For me it's a real showstopper. These are my absolute #1 & #2 apps and I wan't to run them all the time.

Posting this here before making a bug report to check if this is a known issue with a workaround, and (if not) to ask what logs there might be that I could use to accompany such a bug report.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Getting Network To Work On 3.5.4.1

I can't get the network to work. The ethernet card (not wireless) is running OK, eth0 is up, ip address is assigned and all, but I can't reach anything. I can ping addresses but http and ftp seems blocked, ipkg and minibrowser just times out.

This is a completely fresh install. Any ideas? The problem is definitely in the Zaurus because network is OK from other machines.

Here are some experiences after trying out rc4 OZ/GPE a bit more. Generally I want to add to the praise of the hard work and overall result of the oz team. Keep it up! What I'm addressing here are the things that don't work so well (for me) as well as some questions. (before reporting anything to the bugtrackers I thought I'd mention the problems here, it might just be me missing something).

First the bugs:
abiword not starting. I get this error message:
The program 'abiword' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'.
  (Details: serial 1862 error_code 8 request_code 67 minor_code 0)

The strange thing is that it worked before I reflashed after a resizing my partions. Now it just crashes right after drawing the window.

can't login after logout, need hw-reboot. If I logout from GPE (which some setting changes require) it is impossible to log in again. The screen goes black with an X mouse cursor and then I'm bounced back to the login screen, which has a lower res this time. Only way out is to press the little button inside the battery cover.

clock is reset at reboot. After a reboot it's always May 22 again.


Questions:
no other vt's are started by default. This would be really nice, what should I do?

key remapping. I really need to be able to write the extra Swedish characters. Once there seems to have been a package called keymap-extensions, but that doesn't seem to be around anymore. Please help.
When on the topic of keys; what are the 'home' and 'menu' keys in GPE really supposed to do? (I would like the home-key to bring me to the desktop... perhaps the menu key could bring up the active app list?)

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Reasonable Root Partition Size?

The installation instructions for OZ recommended a 100MB root partion, so I created a 128MB one as it seemed more even. Naturally I want to put more apps from that excelent oz feed on my z.
#1 abiword = OK
#2 thunderbird = no space left on drive

Should I just create a larger root partition and re-install? (and how do I resize the partions on the active root?) Or can I direct ipkg to install to another location, e.g. /usr/local which could be put on the /home partition (rest of microdrive-128MB swap)?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / No App Icons In Panel

Trying out the different environments for OZ3.4.5.1 and when running GPE I was expecting icons of the running apps to appear in the task bar, but there are none. Is this normal?

If I don't need/want a vfat partion on my microdrive, is it still necessary to create a third partion for 3.4.5.1 to install or could I just go for root+home[+swap]?

C1000/3x00 General discussions / Backup Utility

I don't seem able to get the Qtopia Backup/Restore utility to work, neither to internal drive or SD card. It does work sometimes, like once in thirty tries or so, but mostly it just says "Backup Failed!", usually right after restarting Qtopia, and sometimes when progress bar is at 100%.

Am I missing something? I've tried different cards with different filesystems and sizes and now I have no more ideas.

If it doesn't work, are there any good alternatives (e.g. I'm no stranger to tar, but would I be able to write back my home partion from a tar archive?)

Software / Textmaker Delays

I'm trying out the evaluation version of TextMaker and when I'm editing moderatly large files (25KB) there is a delay before any keystroke updates the screen. The cursor moves immidiatly however so it looks like I'm inserting spaces and then after like a quarter to a half of a second the typed character appears.

Does anyone know if this is a shortcoming of TextMaker or could it perhaps have something to do other settings like KeyHelper that are conflicting? Would be nice to know before purchasing, 'cause it is by far the best word processor I've found for my Z.
