@ArchiMark, I respect diversity of needs and user cases, but I find this "mouseless" solution much more comfortable (no need to carry mouse around in my pocket, however small it is).

Thanks a lot works nicely. Is there a way to preserve 2-Finger Zooming? No longer working...

Maybe the Debian file didn't download properly?

You were right! I formated my SD-Card, extracted the archive properly and everything worked without any issue!
Love Linux on the device ... its right what I wanted.

What were the steps you followed? I've downloaded the zip a few times, formatted the microSD, extracted it using the Google Files app on Android, installed (seemingly OK), but won't boot. Did you extract it using something other than Files?

After trying twice doing everything on the Cosmo, I downloaded the installer file on a desktop computer (with Ubuntu), formated the sd-Card there with Gparted to FAT32 and extracted the file on the SD-Card (connected via USB-C). Then everyting went smoothly.

If you need a non-english keyboard-layout, the command-line string posted by Michael in the indiegogo-Thread works like charm - but only until reboot
! If you need set the layout permanentlly (and the graphical interfaceisnotsufficient), I described another method with a config file in "Debian amnesia" Thread.
Good luck!

Cosmo Communicator - Linux / Debian not booting
« on: February 27, 2020, 08:36:58 am »
Hi all

I successfully partitioned the device according to the PC instructions and installed TWRP, Debian, Android Root.

Everything works, but not Debian. No matter which partition-model or location of boot-partition. Booting Debian allways stops at the first screen with the Debian logo - even after waiting 6h.

Any help would be really appreciated!

Cosmo Communicator - General Discussion / Poor battery life

Hi Mitchelln

Is anyone else experiencing really poor battery life?
I can watch the battery percentage literally dropping as I'm using it.
For me, battery llife is still an issue.

I switch "energy saving" on a soon as possible, BT, Location normally off. Frequent closing of unneeded apps (is there a way to simplify this?).
I need the CODI, but while carrying the phone in my trouser-pocket, random contacts with the touchscreen lead to things like BT
-switch on or at least random unlock-trials, waking the screen up.

Still, it remains unreliable, whether I get through a normal day or not.

So, might this app help: https://f-droid.org/de/packages/com.suyashsrijan.forcedoze/ ?

Thanks for your advice!

Hi
I dont really understand the purpose of this procedure. In order to flash a non stockROM, you will need to root it anyway, dont you?

Ok, tried again:
- SD-Card works
- USB-Drive works
- charge-through (left side) works
- LAN-Connection: doesnt work :-(
any ideas?

To be tested: HDMI

Cosmo Communicator - Hardware / Keys getting stuck

Have my Cosmo for three weeks now. For a device that should be a winner because of the physical keyboard, I'm not impressed: left shift key and X don't register unless pressed very firmly. Spacebar is unreliable. About 50% of the time it works, and about half of that time it puts out 2 spaces
Follow-up: got an email from PC-support today that the keys may need to be reseated (take them off, clean underneath, put back on). Tried it, but it doesn't help at all (as I expected after reading the other posts in this thread). Will follow-up again with PC and keep you informed.

Had the same issue with the D key. Got the same reply from PC so reseat the key. It finally got better, but removing the key "popped" the inner ring below it (see above pics without key) out  ... after putting is in again and reseating the key it works now. Unfortunately, the key is now no longer level (like in one of the above pics) and lost most of its travel ... <sigh> ...

Just bought a lycander Hub(LHB - 102) and inserting an SDA-card doesnt mount - I am just kindly asked, whether I would like to formate it :-( ... how do you access your sd s/pendrives?! Do they just show up in the filemanager??

Cosmo Communicator - Hardware / Alt+Tab turning on Caps Lock
« on: January 05, 2020, 06:11:14 am »
Hi Adfh

I use Alt+Tab to quickly switch between applications. It works on the Cosmo, but from time to time, the first press will toggle Caps Lock (which should be Fn+Tab) instead.
I  got the same problem, it turns caps lock on allmost everytime. It really annoying! I filed a bug-report on the PC support site.

Cosmo Communicator - Linux / Ubuntu with Anlinux

Hi

After trying userland, I used now Anlinux. I managed to get a running xfce-Desktop too, a bit better readable, but still wron resolution (something like 1024x768). And of course: Keyboard setting dont match at all which makes text editing a pain. What a pity ...

Anyone got a usable LinuxDesktop running with either Userland or Anlinux?
I edited the vncserver-start script, resoution is correct now, but the dpi ist still to low and no way to change it. Also putting a llightdm.conf in pllace didint help.

Main issue is now the keyboard layout: I verified it in etc/default/keyboard, its german, but the z and y keys are still not matching the layout. Other secial keys even less - what a pitiy! Otherwise, libreoffice would be usable!!!

Cosmo Communicator - Linux / Ubuntu with userland
« on: January 03, 2020, 07:47:58 am »
Hi folks,
I am pretty new here, with only a little Linux knowledge. I use it as main OS at home and backed the cosmo to have a tiny Linux Laptop on the go. As we are still waiitng for the promised nativ linux -support, I played aroudn with userland-app. I finallygot lxde running, but:
- all desktop elements are so tiny, that the system is unusable (forwordprocessing p.e.)
- changing configuration files to correct this fail, as the keyboard doesnt really match. Having a german keyboard, i choose plain german in the installation process (from 10 variants).
- external mouse (via usb-c) does not work

Any help would be appreciated.
