For Sale / Wanted / Fs: Zaurus Sl-c3200 With Cf Wifi Card, Extras
« on: December 12, 2007, 12:11:05 am »
I am interested in selling my C3200 which I bought new in 2006.  I used it a lot at first, but hardly none at all in the last year since I got a Macbook Pro at work.  It has had a protective film on the screen since new and is in excellent cosmetic condition.  I will post a picture if there is interest.

It comes with:

6GB Zaurus SL-C3200 with all original accessories and box
USB data cable
Ambicom wifi CF card
Leather holster
2 Extra screen protectors

Make an offer...  I would prefer Paypal, though a money order would be ok as well.  Also, I will ship US or International.  I can provide contact information and feedback at head-fi.org for your peace of mind.

price japan shows cost as 46,780 yen (393.37 USD) plus thier 4000 yen fee equals 50,780 yen. yahoo shows that equal to 427.15 USD

http://quote.yahoo.com/m5?a=50780&s=JPY&t=USD&c=0

so i am guessing that price is with shipping included since they show a cost of shipping with EMS of about 26.92  USD so that would just about add up to the 465 it shows for  "Price to USA / Canada"

i have not personally used price japan before so i can not say for sure though, but i am guessing that is the total cost.

though my sister does live in japan now so i might just see what she can get it for if i can't get it for an ok price in the USA.

Pricejapan was the cheapest back when I bought mine too, and the price has come down a good bit.  I imagine that exchange rates have something to do with it.

Anyway, its in great condition, and in America as we speak, and I'm taking offers.

Is that $465 shipped or plus the $30 or so shipping.  I am accepting offers.

As written, the $500 includes a $50 wifi card, and $30 in the host cable and screen protectors.  Plus, it's already flashed to English with Cacko 1.23.

Thanks for the interest.

A complete package:

Sharp Zaurus SL-3200, in the box with all original items
A-Data 4GB SD card
Ambicon WL1100C CF wifi card
1 USB host cable from streamlineCPU's
2 PDA screen protectors from streamlineCPU's (one is in use, one is in its package)
A Pelican 1020 waterproof microcase (red/clear top) that fits the Z perfectly
A great pen/stlyus advertizing the drug Flomax :-)

How about if I keep the 4 gig card and the case, and knock off $100?  That is the equivalent of buying the Zaurus and getting the wifi, host cable, and 2 rather expensive screen protectors for free.

Due to financial straits, I am selling my brand new Zaurus.     I bought it from PriceJapan in June, and have the original packaging.  The Z is in excellent condition with Cacko 1.23 installed along with a few extra packages such as Zudoku and X/QT server.

A complete package:

Sharp Zaurus SL-C3200, in the box with all original items
A-Data 4GB SD card
Ambicon WL1100C CF wifi card
1 USB host cable from streamlineCPU's
2 PDA screen protectors from streamlineCPU's (one is in use, one is in its package)
A Pelican 1020 waterproof microcase (red/clear top) that fits the Z perfectly
A great pen/stlyus advertizing the drug Flomax :-)

$600, shipped 2-day Fed-Ex in the USA
$500 for Zaurus, wifi, host cable, and protectors

C1000/3x00 General discussions / Carrying Case For Zaurus 3100
« on: July 24, 2006, 11:01:10 am »
I have two cases that I use regularly.  First, this one is only $3 from Radio Shack.  It has two compartments inside separated by a little card, one for the Z and one for cables and such.  The power brick is too big to fit, unfortunately.

Nintendo DS Case

Second, I have been travelling a lot and using a Pelican 1020 waterproof hard case.  It fits the Z perfectly; I mean it's like it was made for it.  I put the Z in first and put my iPod 5g slip case on top containing my wifi card, a spare cf card, and a screen cloth.  My pen stylus fits as well.  It is about $20 with shipping online.   The Pelican case fits into my cargo shorts and pants very well, though it's a bit bulky.

Neither of these is for using the Z while cased.  I prefer to have it as small and light as possible while I'm typing away.

Hope this helps.

X/Qt / Ratpoison Doesn't Fully Maximize Windows

Did you twiddle the font size to see if one makes the margin smaller?  How is Ratpoison working out for you?  I love it on my laptop and am thinking of moving in that direction.  The problem is that I find the stylus "mouse" input to be fairly convenient in things like Sylpheed and Firefox.

On  a similar note, "microemacs" is mentioned on the software matrix (https://www.oesf.org/index.php?title=Distributions), and I have seen reference to Xemacs in the pdaXrom list.  However, you don't hear much about GNU-Emacs on this board.  Does anyone have a success story to report with GNU-Emacs?  How is the speed?  Usability with ctrl sequences?

The files with ~ are most likely backup files.  I'm guessing that the person who put this ipk together used emacs to edit the files, as emacs will create backups with names like this by default.

I don't know the answer to your question, but you can stop worrying about what is in the ~ files.

Sharp ROMs / Maximizing Battery Life
« on: June 09, 2006, 01:59:41 pm »
Newbie alert!

I noticed that as of now with the Linux 2.6 kernel, OZ is installed on the microdrive (as is pdaXrom and OpenBSD, if I am not mistaken).  Cacko, however, is still installed in RAM, correct?  Or, at least the basic core of it in Cacko lite, with additional packages elsewhere?  Am I on the right track here?

My impression is that this would extend battery life because the Microdrive does not have to be working all of the time for basic OS operations.  I have looked around for battery life comparisons with no success.  Does anyone here have a sense of the relative battery life among the distros?

C1000/3x00 General discussions / Quick Questions Before I Buy...

I can only speak to this first one.  The plug shape in the US and Japan is the same.  As long as the transformer can handle the conversion, you won't need anything to make it fit US plugs.

Thanks for the info.  That is good news.

On the SD card issue, I've been reading the various threads about big SD cards, and they seem to work on the 3200 with the stock ROM, with an update for Cacko and OZ, with pdaXrom 1.1beta1 and according to adf, with Beta 4

That is also good news.  I expect that I will end up with pdaXrom, as the more Linux-y the OS is, the better for me.

C1000/3x00 General discussions / Quick Questions Before I Buy...
« on: June 07, 2006, 10:44:01 am »
I am "5 seconds away" from buying a CL-3200 and wanted to confirm a few things before I pull the trigger.

First, Conics lists the 3200 as coming with the Sharp EA-75 worldwide power adaptor.  The page for that adaptor says that it is the one that comes in the box, and works without a shape adaptor in the USA.  I just wanted to make sure this is correct.

Second, I am looking at the Ambicon WL-1100C wifi card from buy.com.  The wiki says that it does not block any ports, and that it works out of the box.  Has anyone had a problem with this card?

Third, with the latest distros, is there any problem with high capacity SD cards such as these?  Newegg 4GB SD cards

I am thinking of using an SD card for my documents and applications, and use the internal CF card for big files that I use less often (pictures, videos, PDF scans of textbooks).  Does that sound good to you from a processor and battery standpoint?  I'm still trying to sort out how the various distros use the internal flash viz. the microdrive and external cards.

I think I'm going to purchase from PriceJapan, though I haven't ruled out Conics or StreamlineCPUs.  I would love to go with the stateside guys, but that extra $100 could buy a couple of gigs of extra storage.  Thank you for any wisdom and advice!
