Sharp ROMs / Cacko: I'd Like To Don €20 -without Pp- Who Else?
« on: July 11, 2006, 06:00:33 am »
Hi everyone,

since I'm REALLY happy with my c700 and Cacko, I'd like to support it and it's developer and donate €25 to him. Will anyone here do the same?

I just need two favors:
1. I won't create a PayPal account just for it. I'd like to transfer the money by different means. Any suggestions?
2. I'd really like to run sdl-quake on my c700. But even if installed onto a fresh Cacko or Cacko-L, it either won't install or seg-faults on me.

All right,
I hope I will be able to support it. Thanks for any help in Advance.

Sharp ROMs / Quake On Cacko

Hi,

I'm glad the key change worked for you. I have a second and third tip for you.

You can export values to influence libsdl's behavior. Just google for somethig as EXPORT SDL_VIDEO and 640. You should find a list of possible sdl variables.
Then simply set the needed sdl variables before you start Quake.

Third tip: Quake itself accepts several parameters: quake -fullscreen -width 640 -height 480
You get it.

Good luck. Seems I should install Cacko again. Are you using Light or standard?

Sharp ROMs / Sdl Quake On Cacko Segfaults
« on: June 18, 2006, 06:55:47 pm »
Hi,

I just installed sdl quake (quake engine, quake demo (data) and Quake icon) via the official Cacko feed.

They install and two Quake icons appear, Quake and Quake demo. libsdl_mixer gets installed. That's it.

The rest is plain vanilla Cacko.

When I klick the icons, the qame seems to load and the exits. If I run it from the shell, it repeatedly tells me: 'Doing a slow search for image: MaximizeButton'

It then says: 'Fatal signal: Segmentation Fault (SDL Parachute deployed)'

Nothing else.

Any ideas? I remember previous installs of Quake / Doom etc. reqired libsdl_image and libsdl-net or so. But these aren't available via the feed.

Thanks in Advance

Ok, I've emailed you.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=131692\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Thanx,

I received your Email. And I found out why I couldn't install the Quake-demo package. It depends on Quake-engine which was missing and in my previous attempts with the official feed didn't became installed in front of it.

So now I got it installed using the official feed. However, quake now seg-faults on me  Maybe someone has had the same prob?

OK,

now for your prob:

Quake keeps an  config.cfg file inside it's id1 directory. If you add or change the following lines, your controls should be reverse:

Code: [Select]
bind "DOWNARROW" "+forward"
bind "UPARROW" "+back"
bind "RIGHTARROW" "+moveleft"
bind "LEFTARROW" "+moveright"

If you have furter questions, please don't hesitate to post them

I used the official cacko feed just like yourself, and it worked for me.  So I couldn't provide something you don't already have.  =)  I don't remember there being three ipk files, only two though.. strange.

My issue now is that the controls are all backwards.  I've since moved on to experiment with other distributions so I can't play around with cacko/Quake right now.

I can help you with your control problem, if you dig out your old cacko quake packages. There can be 3:
1. quake engine
2. quake demo (data file)
3. quake icon

Or just the first two. However, the current quake demo ipk in the feed is broken.

If you have a backup of the 2 or 3 files of the CACKO fast version you installed, please mail it to axel.groll(at)gmail.com

You'll get the help I can provide the same day,

It's working great.  It's very fast.  The demos run very quickly, and playing around in single-player mode works well.

Hmmm,

I tried to install it, using the offricial cacko feed. The engine and the icon installed well, but not the quake-demo ipk which contains the game data and is 8 MB large.

Could you provide me with all 3 working quake ipkgs? Just to get over this damn error?

Thanks in Advance for your help,

Sharp ROMs / Solved: Gaim/cacko Error > Install2ram
« on: June 08, 2006, 05:54:13 am »
Hi,

more info:
As I mentioned above, I used the cacko feed to install gaim unicocde and let it handle it's dependencies. Hence the gaim libs and gpe-gaim are listed installed, there.

terminal:
#su

# find / -iname *gaim*

well the first obvious question is did you install the libgaim package from the cacko feed?
Yes.
Quote
As root, have you tried a find for libgaim.so?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=130262\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Sure.

The only libgaim is libgaim 0.73-2 from the original cacko feed.

Any further ideas?

Hi,

I always install apps to SD. So did I on the official Cacko feed's GAIM packages. It didn't complain, but it didn't start either. Installation to RAM solved the issue.

 Thanks for the help!

Hi,

one more small prob on my plain vanilla Cacko C700:

Went to install Gaim off of the feed and the gui software install tool ran thru it. Installed the dependencies.

Couldn't start Gaim, though. Tried from the terminal and got this error:

gaim: error while loading shared libraries: libgaim.so: load shared object file: No such file or directory.

Could you please tell me what to do? I have had never been able to run gaim (had a SL 5500 before) and desperate for a tip or two

Thanks so much,

Sharp ROMs / Who's Cacko's Feed Quake Package Maintainer?
« on: June 07, 2006, 10:48:25 am »
Hi,

I couldn't find out yet who's maintainer of the Cacko's official quake-demo 1.06-8 package. I just flashed Cacko and installed quake form the feed onto the empty c700.
The other two packages were ok, this one not.

Could you please provide me with the email of the maintainer of the package?

Thanks in Advance,
coldtriton
