I use DVD shrink to make backups of dvd's. As most 9.4g blanks are too expensive I buy the usual 4.7g. What dvdshrink does is compress the 9.4g dvd to fit a 4.7g one. By re-auther I mean I can chose only to compress the film and if I want to make a backup without all the other languages I can, thus not compressing the film so much. You can actually totally re-auther the dvd to exclude particular menu's etc. I then burn the dvd's with burnatonce.
It's also a good way of getting dvd's on to my hard drive but using less space.
However, after checking out anydvd I see that this actually reduces the amount of time I need to spend converting dvd's to avi, so many thanks for the heads up!
