Qt/Qtopia / Qtopia 4.x On Stock Zaurus
« on: May 10, 2007, 06:38:27 am »
Thanks for the reply!

I confused Qt and Qtopia versions, sorry about that. I am currently converting my Qt 2 application to Qt 4, and I'm investigating if there's any chance that it'll be usable on old Zauruses without custom ROM. I suppose chances are pretty bleak.

Qt/Qtopia / Qtopia 4.x On Stock Zaurus
« on: May 08, 2007, 12:02:30 pm »
Is it possible - or what needs to be done to make it possible - to install Qtopia 4 libs (or statically linking them) on a stock Qtopia 2 Zaurus, and run Qtopia 4 apps?

I recently got an e-mail from potential user of my software "JARDS Mobile " (jards.anderssonj.com), asking if I had a binary that whould work on a Archos PMA430 device. I have no toolchain for the device set up, nor do I have the time to remedy that, so I'd like to ask if anyone could help me.

Source can be downloaded thusly:
cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@gakusei.cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/gakusei co -P jards

The script above  gives me this error:

Code: [Select]
./zencoder.sh: line 77: syntax error near unexpected token `='
./zencoder.sh: line 77: `               if (echo $PROVIDES | grep $1) = 0; then'

Any ideas? I use bash.

Software / Announce: Jards Mobile 1.0
« on: September 17, 2006, 07:00:20 am »
Hi!

Thanks for trying out the program. The handwriting recognition engine is the same as used in Kanji Nirvana, and you're right that the reason for including it is that many Japanese learners, especially beginners, may not be using the Japanese rom.

I'm working on the next release, and bug reports / feature requests are welcome.

Software / Announce: Jards Mobile 1.0

I've renamed my Japanese study software to JARDS Mobile and released version 1.0. ipk and source is available on my homepage. I invite all interested to try it out and comment on it - it should work equally well on large and small Zauruses. Remember that the package consumes about 10Mb of storage.

rolf: perhaps you can download the source and see if you can compile it for OZ?

Oh, by the way.  What language have you written your program in? C, perl, python, ...?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=140010\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

C++.

I'm reworking some of the code right now so it can't be compiled at the moment, but I will have it fixed up by the end of the week. I'll register an account on sourceforge (or try to remember my last one ) and get back to you.

Edit: by the way, did you see my post about v 0.9? I released an installable ipk so if you want to out the program, just download it. Though that ipk probably won't work on OpenZaurus...

ZNarau is a kanji and vocabulary reference and training program for students of Japanese.

Wow, great.  I have been looking for something like this for ages.

Would you be interested to integrate this into the gakusei community that was created specifically as a focal point to distribute things that make life easier for the student of Japanese.  I created this community in the hope to interconnect the various individual projects floating around and reach critical mass for them.

What license is your software released under?  Do you release the source?  If it is free software I can try and integrate it into OpenZaurus which is what I use.  What language are you
 programming in and what windowing widget?

I checked your page and it seems that we have pretty much the same goals.

I've been working hard the last few days to finish version 1.0. As soon as I get it to work nicely on both small and large Zauruses in both landscape and portrait mode, I'll switch focus to creating a little webpage for the program where ipk and source can be downloaded. It's released under the GPL, and it uses the normal Zaurus API; Qt Embedded / Qtopia. It's important to me that it work on stock Z's, but of course it should be available for Open Zaurus too - in fact, I would have it running on OZ right now if I could just get the toolchain to work

It'd be great if joining your community could help me find others interested in working on the program!

Software / Znarau 0.9 Released
« on: August 19, 2006, 12:47:26 am »
This is the first "real" release of my Japanese reference & drilling software. I've worked my way through a 20-point checklist of bugs and it's now much nicer to use.

Download the ipk and try it out.  Note that the program is now statically linked, so if you tried out the preview release, you can delete the libraries.

Next version should have some documentation and support for landscape mode (I'll probably receive my C1000 in the beginning of next week) as well as a webpage with a user guide and more downloadable dictionaries (enamdic and friends). Please report bugs & other problems!

Here's a few screenshots for good measure.

Quiz mode. Answer "Known" if you know the answer, "Unknown" if you don't.
You'll be asked gradually less often about items that have many consecutive
"known" answers.

(Keyboard controls:
up = known
down = unknown
left = get clue
right = skip (don't answer for now)
button = see answer)

C1000/3x00 General discussions / Cl 1000 Or 3200
« on: August 18, 2006, 06:12:17 pm »
If you search this forum I think you'll find quite a lot of comparisons of the two models.

It basically comes down to choosing between the added storage space of the 3200, and the slightly longer battery life + lower price of the 1000. Some think a machine with a hard drive is more fragile than flashmem-only machines, although opinions vary.

OpenZaurus/Opie/Qtopia / Icon Needed
« on: August 18, 2006, 05:33:02 pm »
I'm looking for an icon for a program I'm writing. I need an icon to represent spoken language, as opposed to written. I imagine a small head, sideview, that looks like it's talking. It needs to look serious, not smiley-cutesy.

I've looked through all KDE and Gnome icons that I could find, but I didn't find any suitable image. If you remember seeing an icon like this (freely available) somewhere, please let me know.

Thanks in advance!

Software / Znarau Preview 1 Released

I'll probably be developing this program for a long time since I use it a lot myself. I'm glad you find it useful. The next version will be a lot nicer (I know how to fix most bugs, just have to find the time) and with online help.
