Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Switching From Cacko

I've used cacko for a while.  I find it's great, it plays media files, I can carry around a dictionary and a calculator easily, it's got a calendar and addresses etc.

One thing I can't get it to do is work with my compact flash wifi card.  I had openzaurus quite a while ago and with this I could browse the internet quite easily.  The only problem was it seemed to crash quite often.

A few questions, how easy is it to change (aka, reinstall a couple of apps and backup/restore my calendar/addressbook)? Also, IIRC I couldn't get videos working as well in openzaurus, but if I can use the same software then I imagine it will work just as well.

My distrobution is cacko 1.23, my wifi card is sitecom and only seems to work with openzaurus.  I do not know if it is prism.

Also the command # kill -HUP `cat /var/run/cardmgr.pid` doesn't seem to work.

UK user here, from Nottingham.  Good to see you all.  

I've got a C1000, it works pretty well although my sitecom CF wireless card doesn't work, which is quite annoying.  Does anyone know where to get a better CF wifi card, preferably for not too much cash...

Software / How Do You Run Software?

I seem to have got my head round installing things, using various packages (this is in cacko 1.23) but I can't for the life of me figure out how to run them.  I would like to set it up so I can launch them graphically using an icon.  For instance I just  installed ZBedict, but I've no idea how to start it at all.  The installation all seemed fine.

Hmm, it says restore failed when I try to restore it to the sharp rom.  Then it boots up to the sharp rom anyway.  And the network card still doesn't work...

Ack ack ack... I admit defeat.  Where can I get the original sharp rom from?  I can't seem to find it on google etc.

Zaurus C1000.  Perhaps I'll go back to the sharp rom and tweak around a bit.  *sigh* how many roms have i gone through already...

I think it worked in the stock sharp rom, but videos buggered up all over the place.  Multimedia is fixed with cacko.  Damn, it seems I can have one but not the other.

I switched over from openzaurus(where the card worked fine) now it doesn't work at all.  It is a "sitecom wireless network cf adapter".  and I am running cacko 1.23.  Apologies if this is a rather elementary problem but I'm new to linux and handhelds and having quite a hard time.

I wasn't worried about bricking it, I was just worried about not being able to get anything useful done (my past experience with linux).  I decided to plunge in with Openzaurus, seemed like fun.  Atm I'm trying to install a mediaplayer in any way, shape or form.  Kino2 was on the sharp rom and seemed good, so I'm trying to get that back.

Right, I just got my zaurus c1000 today.  I'd like to use it mainly for wireless internet here and there, multimedia and keeping a calendar/addressbook.  I've been reading about all kinds of roms for it and stuff and I don't really understand which one to use to get the most out of my zaurus.  I'm worried I'll try one and then not be able to install any software or not be able to use my wireless card.

I was about to dive in with pdaxrom.  Does this seem like a good choice?
