New products and alternatives / Pandora Is Starting To Really Interest Me
« on: October 31, 2008, 02:11:28 pm »
Guys in case you havent read and you preordered I have some info.   The good news is that the device is now getting 512MB of NAND and 256MB of RAM.  The bad news is that they are switching banks and many credit cards will be refunded.  They are sending a newsletter soon.  If it is refunded you will have to reorder the device.  They are giving the ram at no cost because of this issue.

I got my Everun note yesterday and I must say that I like it a lot.  It is really powerful for what it is.  I just need the extended battery because the stock on sucks.

how about heat dissipation - previous poster said his got very hot!

Ill have to get back to you on this.  Mine got so hot that its defective.  I had to send it back for a return.  After about 10 min of hard use the screen started artifacting like mad and then just went to a black screen with lines flashing all over it.  Hopefully I will have my replacement soon so I can test again.

I am getting one soon.  One thing I dont like is the battery life and the second is that it has no lan port or dongle for lan port.  I will most likely get a usb lan card for it.

New products and alternatives / Who's Getting A Pandora?
« on: October 19, 2008, 03:30:41 pm »
I had my preordered in the first day.  I am going to wait and see how much cool linux stuff it can do.  If it does a good amount I will most likely get rid of my C3000.

For Sale / Wanted / Selling Sony Ux390n With Extras
« on: September 25, 2008, 04:52:20 pm »
I am selling my Sony UX390.  I still have all accesories it came with and the original box as well.  I also have a few extras for it.  The first is the extended battery that gives it about 4 hours of life on one charge.  The second is a RAM mount.  This is a suction cup arm used to mount the UMPC to a windshield.  The 3rd is a ambicom USB gps receiver.

I am asking 900 firm for the entire package plus shipping.

I have finally got this installed and I am having a hell of a time getting my ambicom wifi card to work.  Can anyone help me out.  Its listed as eth1.  I have done a iwconfig eth 1 essid myid and done the dhclient eth1 but it wont give me a address.  The wifi router is wide open.

Debian / Wrong Kernel Running In Andromeda
« on: September 06, 2008, 01:14:00 pm »
I have tried that and I still get the kernel panic.  I repartitioned it with the pdaxrom flash and and extracting now.  I am thinking maybe the partition wasnt marked as bootable.

strange, putting a CF card in worked.  It will now untar the OS onto the hard drive.  When I reboot now I get a kernel panic and I think its not able to find the fresh OS.  I have no idea what to do now.

To me it sounds like it's trying to mount a drive when a CF storage card is inserted (otherwise /dev/hdc* doesn't exist).

Well the flash is trying to untar the file automatically.  I dont have a CF card but a wifi card inserted.  I have ready I need to have a CF card in during the install.  Is this true?

Pick the kernel you need and flash it, kernels are here.

Flashing is easy enough now.

I can flash the kernal OK.  I get the error involving the HDC1 when it goes and tries to extract the andromedia tarball after the kernal flash is complete.

Maybe you flashed the wrong kernel? There are several of them (for booting off various SD and MD partitions).

If you are replying to me I used the kernal that came in the andromeda.zip file.  I am kind of still a newb(even after being here years now) and honestly I could be partitioning the drive incorrectly.  The instructions arent written for someone as newb to linux as me.  There is a specific error and I will give it to you once I get home.
