Software / KDE-Pim/Pi 1.9.6 Release
« on: October 01, 2004, 06:34:29 pm »
Just a quick note to say that I've added a bug report at Sourceforge; I've confirmed my earlier finding that, if I delete an entry from my Zaurus address book it is ADDED BACK on next sync, rather than deleted from my desktop Kaddressbook file.

Great job, though.

Did you synced already before deleting the item on the Z.?
Or was it the first sync?

I had already synced.  I think.

Zautrix: let me see if I can reproduce the problem and then report it in more detail. I don't want to waste any more of your valuable time (when you could, for example, be working on getting KO/PI and KA/PI to receive appointments and VCF cards by infrared beam   )  I'll test further and report back.

Just to repeat my earlier post: great work on this.  It really makes the Z my indispensable companion.

Zautrix

Sorry I wasn't clear.

I deleted an entry from the address book in KA/PI on my Zaurus.  I then synchronized the Z with my desktop std.vcf file (which still contained the entry) - using the KA/PI sync with remote file facility over SSH.  The result of the sync was that the deleted entry was added back to the Zaurus file, rather than deleted from the desktop file.

Does that make sense?

Just discovered this post here:
https://www.oesf.org/forums/inde...?showtopic=5590
which solved my SSH problem completely.

Two other, more minor things.

First, I have lost the icon on my PIM tab. (I tried downloading Pim_TAB_icon_1.9.6_arm.ipk and installing it: doesn't work. Indeed, this may have been what caused it to disappear in the first place)

Second, if I delete a contact from my address book, when I next sync the contact is added back to the file I removed it from, rather than deleted from the other file.

All the best

Hi   [PROBLEM FIXED: SEE BELOW]

I've broken scp by installing KDE/PIM 1.9.6 and I need some help to get it working again.

First let me say this is a great product, that makes the Zaurus really usable as a PIM, especially for those of us with Linux on the desktop.  The diary and address book functionality are superb.

Now, my problem. I held off upgrading from 1.9.3 until address book sync was included.  When 1.9.6 came out, I uninstalled 1.9.3 and downloaded and installed KA/PI, KO/PI and OM/PI, as well as the kdemicrolibs.

KA and KO worked fine. I got them to sync with my desktop over SSH.

But OM/PI wouldn't start from Qt. From the command line, it said it missing a library - I think it said libssl.so.0.9.7 (but I didn't make a note).  So I downloaded and installed libssl0.9.7b from here:
http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/showdetail.php?app=1388

I suspect that might have been a mistake?

Anyway, both SSH and SCP stopped working (and, of course, my sync over SCP stopped working too.)

So I tried to uninstall libssl0.9.7.

I now find that:

- with libssl0.9.7b installed, SSH works; but SCP gives me the following error message " ... scp: undefined symbol: __ciz_tab "

- with libssl0.9.7b not installed, SSH and SCP do not work, with the error message " ... libcrypto.so.0.9.7: cannot load shared object file"

I would really like to get back to having SCP working, so that I can sync across my network.  I realise this is only partly related to KDE-PIM, but that is where my troubles began.

Thanks in advance

Owen

Thanks Ulf and jesizmi for the replies.  I see the feature request is already logged in sourceforge, so I won't duplicate that. And I'll try out jesizmi's workaround.

Hi. I'm really enjoying using KO/PI - thanks to the guys who developed and adapted this for the Zaurus.

I have one problem, which I'm sure is easily solved, but I can't figure out how.

If someone sends me an appointment by IR beam, it ends up in the Sharp DTM calendar, and not in my KO/PI diary.

In theory, I could then sync KO/PI with the DTM file, but that intermittently doesn't work and loses all my data, so I'd rather not.

Is there a way to "tell" my Z to give an incoming appointment to KO/PI rather than to the Sharp app?  I suspect this is a QT setting, but I can't figure out where.

General Discussion / File association / beaming

Mikew: Thanks for the suggestion to sync with the Sharp DTM app.  That is what I have been doing, but I have found it unreliable - and occasionally lose all my calendar data.  That was why I was trying to find a way to get the incoming beamed appointment straight into KO/PI. (I'd welcome advice on which option for handling conflicts I should be using: I'm not sure I get the difference exactly.)

Doseas: thank for the tip.  Like you say, something else must be at work here, because the incoming appointment does go automagically into the Sharp calendar app.

Can anybody fill in the missing pieces here?

Is there a way to "associate" a file with an application?  In particular, when I receive an IR beam containing an event, I would like my Z to add that event to my KO/PI calendar, and not to the default Sharp DTM calendar application.  How might I set this up?

Thanks in advance

Sharp ROMs / Cannot connect Zaurus to internet via GPRS and IR
« on: July 07, 2004, 01:33:35 pm »
I had something like this.  I found the following modem settings (in the network settings utility) fixed it.

 AT+cgdcont=1,\"IP\",\"internet\" ATM1 ATX3

Note the backslashes to escape the inverted commas.

Hope that helps.

Sharp ROMs / Wireless extensions in Cacko ROM / kernel?
« on: June 05, 2004, 07:27:48 am »
Thanks very much.  But I don\'t feel much the wiser from this (which I had also found), as in this thread, which is about Wellenreiter rather than Kismet, the posting from toadatrix says that the Hermes drivers do NOT work with Kismet (which is why there is all this stuff about switching back again).    Or have I misunderstood as usual?

Sharp ROMs / Wireless extensions in Cacko ROM / kernel?
« on: June 04, 2004, 09:21:06 am »
Thanks.  I\'ve surfed the forums for several hours looking to the answer to this.

I deduce that I need to install the javab0y kernel. Is that right?  But even that is proving difficult, as I cannot find an updater.sh for the Sharp ROM which I have to have on the CF card alongside the kernel.  (The updater.sh that comes with the Cacko ROM doesn\'t seem to want to work alongside the javab0y kernel - it gives me an error that tools are missing.)   I really have tried searching the forums and cannot find how to do this.

Thanks in advance (and especially for the Cacko ROM, which is superb.)

Sharp ROMs / Wireless extensions in Cacko ROM / kernel?

Hi

I am using Cacko 1.21a on a C760.

My Buffalo WLI-CF-S11G works fine connecting to my wireless network.

If I want to use Kisment, do I need to replace the kernel with different drivers (I read something about wireless extensions?) to get the WiFi card to go into monitor mode?  Or does the Cacko ROM already have these built in?  What do I need to do?

Kismet is giving me \"etho0 no private ioctls\" ....

Zaurus - pdaXrom / apache / php on pdaXrom

Does the pdaXrom support Apache and PHP?  Would I just install the regular Apache/PHP IPK?

Thanks in advance

Where did you get this version of Opera from? I couldn\'t find an IPK for it.
