Hi all,
I've been contemplating an AV604 for a while now for use as a video player. This thread has commanded my attention. I thought until now that this was a great product.
I don't have a 16:9 camera, so I'm left to wonder: is this goofy display-cropping problem going to occur if one were to view commercial widescreen format movies or is this some weird interaction with the cameras?
Any thoughts?
I bought my AV500 a year ago, justifying my purchase with my need for a stand-alone storage device for my digital photos (Canon 20D, or anything else). Of course, I did not need all the features of the device, but I have enjoyed them.
I have about 80 videos on my AV500. As I type this, I am watching Andrew Lloyd Webber's "The Phantom of the Opera" (2004). Though I have noticed sometimes some cropping on the top, it usually isnt' noticeable. What's more, I can control the dimensions in my ripping software (FairUse).
What I am wondering is what display setting people use on their device? The default is Auto, I suppose. The other two options are "Maximized Image" and "Original Picture."
