Hi!
I bought SL-C760 on Amazon a while ago, it came with D-Link DCF-660W wireless card, but I always had a problems with that card, I searched the forums and it seems everybody has problems with that card. Now it doesn't work at all! Nothing even shows up in dmesg when I plug it in! I want to buy a new card, but I have no idea what card should I buy that would work with Kismet/Wellenreiter..

I'm not sure if there are cards for zaurus where you can plug external antena, that would be really, really great or any other card that has strong reception. even my USB 15$ Netgear card was able to discover more networks than DCF-600W.. any suggestions are really appreciated. Thank you!

The Ambicom I mention in my sig should work. Your SL C760 and my C860 have pretty much the same hardware under the skin. I'm sure they're still available on eBay, I have 2 of them.

Thanks a lot! I found it on amazon: [a href=\"http://www.amazon.com/AmbiCom-WL1100C-CF-Compactflash-11MBPS-Adapter/dp/B00008W9PW]http://www.amazon.com/AmbiCom-WL1100C-CF-C...r/dp/B00008W9PW[/url]
Did you  require any extra modules, or it works out of the box? how about wpa? do you need wpa_suplicent? Thanks!

Thank you everybody!
It takes all that time to just power it up, booting was kind'a fast, when I got that far!=P I installed OZ, and now it switches on perfectly,

5
beta1 runned ok on my c760, but when I installed 1.1.0r121 I had many issues and it was way slower than beta1! I think you should try beta1 first, installation takes a fiew minutes anyway..

Thank you both! It finally worked!! I installed OZ, and found out that my D-Link DCF-660W is not really working that well. If I force it pushing in, it sometimes works, my CS storage card works perfectly, so it's the cards fault. But when I got it recognized, I got an error:
Code: [Select]
hermes @ c4820000: Timeout waiting for card to reset (reg=0x0000)!
eth0: failed to initialize firmware (err = -100)
orinoco_cs: register_netdev() failed
I will try to figure out tomorow whats up with the error. Thank you everybody!

Thanks! I downloaded this file:
http://www.trisoft.de/download/760NAND291003.zip
unzipped and put it on the SD card, and I did this steps, but again failed..

Power down the Zaurus and remove all power sources (no AC adaptor and remove the battery!). Set the battery switch to the "Offen" position and wait for at least 5 seconds. Then connect the AC adaptor and put back the battery. Hold down the [D] and [M] keys and set the battery switch back to "Betrieb" (while keys are pressed!). After a short moment the diagnostics menu should appear. If not, try it again and this time hold down the [D] and [M] keys before you restore the power (AC adaptor / battery).
The bold text is how far I got, then again it just powers up, and I don't have even change to hold thous buttons.. any suggestions please?

ok, then I had problems with turning the thing on and getting my wireless card to work, because both of these things worked out 'sometimes'! So I decided to install the lastest 1.1.0r121 pdaXrom. The installation went smoothly, everything booted up ok, but still my card didn't came up!

I found that some users have the same hardware issues with the D-Link DCF-660W, so to be sure, I decited to install Open Zaurus, because my card was running then without any problems. So I downloaded all the required files, followed the instructions, but I can't get into the flashing menu (the japanese one).

I had a problem with powering it up, now I have a problem when I put the battery in or plug it in the power, when I try to use halt it just crashes and thats it!

I had done flashing 3 times before, and everything went great, but now I can't get even to the flashing menu, when it powers up, I don't get that menu, it just boots sudenly up!
So I followed these instructions, just to make sure! (but I did exact the same steps other 3 times)
https://www.oesf.org/index.php?title=Installing_pdaXrom

any suggestions how to 'force' to flash it? Damn, it pisses me off so bad, but this thing is way to good to give up on it! Thanks!

« on: January 26, 2007, 10:21:43 pm »
Hi!
It has been ~5days since I got my C760, but the problem is, how do you 'propertly' turn it on? It literally takes 2-5 minutes to make it power up, with fiew exceptions I guess.. When I push the power button in the back nothing happens, when I try to hold it still nothing happens, and after a LOT of atempts it rurns on! I'm not sure if there is a special way how to turn it on or I'm just retarted?

Also I'm having big problems with my D-Link DCF-660W, I have to unplug/plug countless times, before it's get recognized by iwconfig! today I have tried it sooo many times and it came up only twice, but as soon as I have set access point by GUI, the card just 'dies' and is not listed in iwconfig or ifconfig.. I just don't get it.. I'm running pdaXrom beta1.

The card is not that big of a deal, I just want to finally figure out, how do you turn on that thing, so it actualy powers up!

Thank you!

Software / Kismet/d-link/acx100
« on: January 25, 2007, 01:12:40 pm »
Hi!
I have D-Link DCF-660W wireless card, I'm trying to get it working with Kismet. Fiew days ago, it was running perfectly with Wellenreiter. I'm not 100% if it was running in rfmon mode, but I think essid broadcasting was set off to my router and Wellenreiter got it.

Now I installed pdaXrom, and I want to get my card running with Kismet. I edited kismet.conf and set suiduser = nobody and source=acx100,wlan0,wlan0

I'm not sure which driver to list, I checked kismet documentation, and it sad that I should use acx100 for D-Link cards, but when I run Kismet, I got:
Code: [Select]
# kismet
Server options:  none
Client options:  none
Starting server...
Waiting for server to start before starting UI...
Will drop privs to nobody (65534) gid 65534
No specific sources given to be enabled, all will be enabled.
Enabling channel hopping.
Enabling channel splitting.
Source 0 (wlan0): Enabling monitor mode for acx100 source interface wlan0 channel 6...
FATAL: Failed to set private ioctl 'monitor': Operation not supported
Could it be the wrong driver or.. ? Any suggestions please? Thank you!

Hi!
I downloaded kismet, I tried to use ipkg to install it, but after installation when I write kismet in console, it says command not found. this is what I did:
Quote
ipkg install kismet_2005-01-R1-1_arm.ipk
ERROR: File not found: /usr/lib/ipkg/liss/cacko-unstable
You probably want to run 'ipkg update'
chown: unknown group name: qpe
Installing Kismet...mkdir: Cannot create directory '/home/zaurus/netlog': No such file or directory
Done.

Then I runned 'ipkg update', but I got an error message 404 file not found.
I'm running pdaxrom. Any suggestions? Thanks!
[div align=\"right\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

That appears to be the Cacko Kismet package. Try getting the pdaXrom one and see if the errors go away. PdaXrom packages end in armv5tel.ipk instead of arm.ipk.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=152284\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Thanks! I will look it up! I changed the URL in package manager to [a href=\"http://www.zaurususergroup.org/feed/]http://www.zaurususergroup.org/feed/[/url] but still I get an error, that it cannot retrive list. weird..

Hi!
I read this tutorial: https://www.oesf.org/index.php?title=How_to_install_pdaXrom
and it says:
Quote
1-Format your SD or CF card in FAT file system.
2-Put these files on your card: You can download these 3 files from: ..
Code: [Select]
tools.tar
initrd.bin
updater.sh
I can't connect my SD card to my laptop, because I don't have any hardware, that could read it. Can I format my card to fat from zaurus, and download thous files and put them on the card thru zaurus? will it work, It has to be done thru computer? do I need some special software to write thous files, do they have to be in some structure or ..?

I'm running now Opie 1.2 OpenZaurus, but I really want to get pdaxrom running, I have C760. Any suggestions? Thank you!
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=152188\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Yes, you can put the files on the card by downloading them on your Zaurus.

If you're asking if you can use your Zaurus as a card reader, you can under pdaXrom, but I don't know about OZ.

Hope this helps.

Thanks alot!! I'll try that out now!
