Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Spanish Keyboard
« on: March 05, 2007, 01:09:42 pm »
I'd like to get the physical keyboard of my SL-C760 to type Spanish characters under GPE, but don't know what I have to install to get that. I don't care about translating the desktop or applications (no problem with English for me) but would love to be able to write Spanish characters.

Thanks in advance

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Usb Networking
« on: March 05, 2007, 12:07:36 pm »
I've just installed OZ with GPE on my SL-C760 and I'm quite happy with it, but can't get usb networking to work at all. Although I've selected "Ethernet networking" in "USB settings", the Windows machine keeps detecting the Z as a USB mass storage device, and creates two read-only drives, one for the CF card and another one for the SD card.

I suspect is has something to do with the fact that when I was using Cacko before, I installed the drivers on the CD, so there may be some kind of conflict there.

Has anybody experienced such a bahaviour?

Thanks in advance.

Cxx0 Hardware / Another Wifi Cf Card Working Right Out Of The Box
« on: January 26, 2007, 07:22:04 pm »
The card scared me for the first time when , for no apparent reason, it refused to connect to my router although the light had turned on and it looked good. Then I realized I had just installed the wireless tools v. 0.28 I had downloaded from some site. After uninstalling the package, the card connected again. Anyone knows why did that happen?

Cxx0 Hardware / C760 And Sd
« on: January 26, 2007, 02:29:33 am »
I recently found this thread: https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=22621, which deals about getting a high capacity SD card (> 1Gb) with C760/C860 and Cacko, and I'm very interested in that possibility.

As far as I can see, it deals with installing a driver for a SDIO wifi card made by c-guys, and people report it seems to be working, but I need to be sure, since I don't want to end up with an unusable card. I could still try to use it with my digital camera, but, since I bought that before SD cards with more than 1Gb capacity appeared on the market, I can't be sure that would work, either.

Besides that, another thing comes to my mind: the driver is meant for C760/C860, as stated on c-guys site, and, as far as I know, C760 and C860 don't support SDIO. Am I missing something?

Well, the fact is, does anybody know if the driver would work with a C760 using Cacko 1.23?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry, Opera, Konq, and NetFront are the only ones I know of, but I haven't used Cacko for quite some time.

And just some newer version of Konqueror you know of? I've always liked konqueror, but it makes Qtopia restart whenever I try it, strangely, whenever I go to Google.

Thanks in advance.

I'm using my c760 with cacko 1.23 and find the versions of netfront and opera that come with it to be not completely fulfilling. I downloaded a version of Konkeror, but whenever I try to use it QTopia crashes, so Konkeror ir unusable. Is there any new version of any of this browsers which works on cacko 1.23. If so, where can I download them from?

Thnks in advance.

If good web browsing is necessary, try OZ or pdaXrom, as they both have Firefox, which should suit your needs.

You could also try pdaXQTrom for Firefox.

So no chance to get something with cacko?   pdaXQTrom is way too slow and I also use the Z at work to synchronize with MS Outlook, and cacko works like a charm for that.

Cxx0 Hardware / Another Wifi Cf Card Working Right Out Of The Box
« on: January 25, 2007, 02:59:35 pm »
Ive just got a second hand wifi card for my c760 and has worked just out of the box. In fact, I'm now writing this from the Z. It's a Sony Air Shot card. It was part of a Sony wifi projector. The projector broke and its owner has sold the wifi card to me. The card model appears on the sticker on the card as "IFU-WLC1". It's a 11mbps card and worked without trouble. I've been using it for almost an hour and the battery level has just dropped by 15%, so I guess it's not a very power consuming card. Since I got it for under $30, I guess it's not a bad deal.

BTW, the Z detects the card as "OrigoV2/Senao WLAN CF Card"

See you.

EDIT: I've just found the card is a rebranded model. The exact model is an Ovislink Airlive WL1100CF. It uses a prism 3.0 chipset

Hi!
I got my C760 today, but it doesn't have a power chord and no usb cable. I can't test if it works. Can anyone please tell me what are the reqirements voltage etc.. for C760 and where could I get the adopter (in store). How much would it cost? Thank you!

As stated in another reply, the PSP charger works fine.

You can buy the sync cable at [a href=\"http://www.serialio.com]http://www.serialio.com[/url]. The serialio.com store page for the cable is

https://serialio.com//store/product_info.ph...dfab23bbdce0054

It's worth $29.95 and also works as a charge cable, so you can charge the Zaurus with a computer until you get an external mains charger.

Spain / Bateria Para Zaurus

Replacement for Sharp Zaurus SL-5500 Battery 1700mAh

[img]http://i3.ebayimg.com/01/i/000/85/32/9f7d_2.JPG\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" /]

En la foto veo que la batería es como muy grande, sabeis si encajará en la zaurus? Es mejor una bateria de 1700mah que una de 900mah?

Gracias.

PD: Acepto cualquier consejo en relación a baterias de Zaurus que puedan darme
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=151527\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Problems With Pdaxqtrom

When you installed Xqtrom did you make sure to load the script in /mnt/pdaxqtrom-apps/./pdaXqtApps-setup????

Try to give us an Idea of how the install went and what you did.  It'll save a lot of guessing.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=150844\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Thanks, that might be it, since I didn't use the script you mention. I'll try again and tell you.

BTW, the install went perfect and I had no error messages, the problem was that the apps I tried just didn't work. The X desktop loaded fine, but the apps just didn't, except some of the smaller ones.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Problems With Pdaxqtrom
« on: January 11, 2007, 06:38:53 am »
I have just installed pdaXqtrom (like 5 minutes ago) on my C760 and can't seem to get it working well. I can start X, but most apps don't start. I've tried so far AbiWord (one of the reasons I wanted to try pdaXqtrom or pdaXrom), the calculator and Ethereal, and only Ethereal did start up. The other ones just did nothing.

I'm now thinking about uninstalling, so I wanted to know how to do it. I have a backup of my system from a few days ago, but I'd prefer not to use it.

Thanks in advance.

Cxx0 General discussions / C860 Charging Problem (not Battery)

I have tested some cell phone chargers that gives 5.2v DC. Like Samsung and LG litium chagers and they work perfectly with may zaurus C700. This kind of chagers use a circuit to giveyou exactly 5.2v DC no matter the AC voltaje Input (>100vAC).

Thanks for your help, i will buy a phone charger.

Btw, what about USB?  It's voltage is 5V and devices can draw 400-500 mA current from a USB port, but correct me if im wrong.

[div align=\"right\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

When I got my second hand c760, I also got a USB sync/charge cable, which works perfectly. The guy who sold the Zaurus to me got the cable from [a href=\"http://www.serialio.com]http://www.serialio.com[/url]. It's called "ZthinCable USB" and you can find more details at http://serialio.com/products/adaptors/ZThinCableUSB.php

The exact model you need is the "ZThinCable USB-A-6", which you can buy online from serialio.com store for $29.95. It's quite expensive for a USB cable, but it works perfectly, it's USB 2.0, and, besides being a charger, you can also avoid buying a synchronization cradle, since you can also sync the Zaurus with it.
