Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Help-many Jffs2 Errors On Boot!
« on: September 28, 2005, 11:40:39 am »
During boot (hard and soft) I get a bunch of jffs2 errors.  Opie won't run, but I can get a  shell.  I can also get sshd running and log in.

I can fsck the ssd and cf card, but don't know how to fix my / filesystem.
The df command returns:
Segmentation fault

I have a 5500 with OZ/Opie 3.5.2
Thanks!

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Wireless Problems
« on: March 08, 2005, 09:09:24 am »
I've had a similar problem with a Pretec card.
It takes about 5 minutes for the card to establish a connection.
During this time the light blinks and the channel is changing, but it usually keeps hitting one particular channel longer and more frequent than the others.
I've had the card use the Orinoco and hostap drivers.  The hostap drivers cause the SSID to appear followed by garbage charecters.

Is it in the OZ feeds?  That is where I originally looked.  The only reason I tried using the ozcompat is because of the seg fault.  If others have got it to run I think I'll try reinstalling it again.

Signal to Noise Ratio?
That sounds like what SNR is.  I have two other wireless devices on the access point that have no problems.  I've held the Zaurus about a foot from the AP and the behavior is the same.  I think it must be a driver problem.
What package would I reinstall to get the drivers reinstalled?

Does disabling WEP improves things?
No luck.  I also tried no SSID, Mac address, or channel.
What is an SNR problem?
Thanks!

I'm using a Pretec modle OC-WLBXX-A card.  I've specified a channel, but it seems to be skipping around from channel to channel until the connection is made.  I've tried
Quote
iwconfig eth0 channel 6
but get the "operation not supported" error.  Using the Network configure program and selecting "Rescan Neighbouhood" works great.  It finds the AP, but the card still won't give me a solid light and connect.  What's wierd is after about 10 minutes the light goes solid and everything works great.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Wellenreiter Lockups?
« on: February 04, 2005, 10:41:02 am »
My Netgear card finally died on me.  It got to where I had to push on it before it would be recognized as anything other than "anonymous memory."  I'm using a Pretec card now and if I remember correctly it still froze.  There dosen't seem to be any correlation to heavy packet captures.  I did get kismet working with this card which I was unable to with the Netgear.  Kismet has not froze my system yet.

I've had the same problem with a Netgear MA701 card.  Wellenreiter is installed on my SD card.  Not sure if this is what causes the lockups.  I don't have wireless applet installed.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Where Did Openzaurus.org Go?
« on: January 26, 2005, 03:57:23 pm »
Keep in mind that the forums and the Open Embedded/Zaurus project are free to the public.  I'm not complaining.  I'd just like to find a mirror of the feed if possible.  I'm sure openzaurus.org will be back or moved eventually.

The domain name seems to have expired or something.  I was trying to get to the feeds.  Does anyone have the IP of openzaurus.org?  How about a mirror of the feeds?
Thanks.

I tried BOA and it works great, but needs php inserted between /cgi-bin/  and the script to run.  This does not work well with some php programs.
I tried downloading the following:
Quote
http://www.zaurususergroup.com/feed/apache...2.3_0.1_arm.ipk
When I run
Quote
/home/www/bin/httpd start
it returns
Quote
segmentation fault
and quits.  Do I need to use the compat libs?  How would I use them on a console program if so?
Thanks!

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Boa/hentges Problems
« on: January 13, 2005, 01:59:48 pm »
I have PHP and boa installed from the OZ feeds.  I had to symlink the php executable to my /usr/lib/cgi-bin directory.  In order to run a php script I have to append php to the link.  For example, to run /cgi-bin/hello.php my link needs to point to
Quote
http://localhost/cgi-bin/php/hello.php
Unfortunatly this breaks a lot of code that uses location paths.  I have not found a work around for this yet.

Here is a copy of my boa.conf file:
Quote
# Boa v0.94 configuration file
# Customized for Debian GNU/Linux by Jonathon Nelson <jnelson@boa.org>
# File format has not changed from 0.93
# File format has changed little from 0.92
# version changes are noted in the comments
#
# The Boa configuration file is parsed with a lex/yacc or flex/bison
# generated parser.  If it reports an error, the line number will be
# provided; it should be easy to spot.  The syntax of each of these
# rules is very simple, and they can occur in any order.  Where possible
# these directives mimic those of NCSA httpd 1.3; I saw no reason to
# introduce gratuitous differences.

# The "ServerRoot" is not in this configuration file.  It can be compiled
# into the server (see defines.h) or specified on the command line with
# the -c option, for example:
#
# boa -c /usr/local/boa

# Port: The port Boa runs on.  The default port for http servers is 80.
# If it is less than 1024, the server must be started as root.

# Listen: the Internet address to bind(2) to.  If you leave it out,
# it takes the behavior before 0.93.17.2, which is to bind to all
# addresses (INADDR_ANY).  You only get one "Listen" directive,
# if you want service on multiple IP addresses, you have three choices:
#    1. Run boa without a "Listen" directive
#       a. All addresses are treated the same; makes sense if the addresses
#          are localhost, ppp, and eth0.
#       b. Use the VirtualHost directive below to point requests to different
#          files.  Should be good for a very large number of addresses (web
#          hosting clients).
#    2. Run one copy of boa per IP address, each has its own configuration
#       with a "Listen" directive.  No big deal up to a few tens of addresses.
#       Nice separation between clients.
# The name you provide gets run through inet_aton(3), so you have to use dotted
# quad notation.  This configuration is too important to trust some DNS.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Boa/hentges Problems
« on: January 12, 2005, 10:55:18 pm »
I have boa working on 3.5.2.  I created a user named dino and created the directory /home/dino/www.  I placed a file named index.html in this directory.  I think the only other thing I did was edit the boa.conf file to use the "dino" login.
Hope it works out for you.

There is a solution to the USB problem here:

You have to run a script before putting the Z in the cradle, but it works.
