Software / Freenote!
« on: February 28, 2004, 08:53:30 am »
I just followed the links through from ZSI, downloaded the latest version and installed it..Bingo! There are fewer icons displayed (although I haven\'t yet tried it rotated) and some of the options seem not to be working brilliantly, but you can draw, and it saves.

BTW I\'m running the Tkc Rom (is it 2 alpha 3? I can\'t remember and I haven\'t got my Zaurus on me at the moment) not OZ.

I\'m using it on my SL-5500 as well - it\'s a great programme. I particularly like the way it smooths drawings. I have a problem with text too, which is that I can\'t resize it. A shame, but even as a drawing app. without text it knocks spots off some of the competition. The only thing I\'d like in addition is a fill tool.

Great work!

I live in Cumbria, although I\'m not a Cumbrian, and it hasn\'t rained properly for days (mind you, it\'s not Summer yet).

I\'ve had my Zaurus for just over a year now. Former Palm user, wanted:
a) high powered PDA to play and work with;
 non-M$ OS;
c) keyboard:
d) CF and SD.

I\'m not a developer, don\'t even work in IT (teacher - bah!), but I\'m very happy with my SL-5500. Even had good service/communication with Sharpserv when it packed up on me.

Just wish I could afford one of those lovely C7/8** machines.

Forgive me if I\'m teaching my grandmother to suck eggs, but have you tried the Unofficial Zaurus FAQ? I started out with a Zaurus just over a year ago, with no Linux experience and only the most rudimentary understanding of command lines and terminals etc., and I found it an invaluable resource. Download it to your Zaurus and browse at your leisure!

I must say I know what you mean about all the learned and erudite Linux afficianados posting here, but I lurked for a long while and picked up a great deal of useful information. Perhaps more significantly, I\'ve been spurred on to learn more.

Have fun!

A goodie bag would be nice, but how best to pay for it? I seem to remember you were thinking of putting up a PayPal link for contributions towards the cost of running this splendid - nay, invaluable - resource. Time you did so, I\'d say.

I see we\'re about to hit the 2000th member mark.

My question is, what should the 2000th member get as his/her reward, and should we have a party?

General Discussion / Sync with Aethera?

Thanks for that.

I see that March 2004 is the date they \'envision\' in their timeline/roadmap. Does anyone know what kind of a record they have in keeping to their schedule?

I\'m no developer, and forgive me if I\'m being gormless, but wouldn\'t it be good if it were possible to sync the tkc rom with Aethera? I don\'t use Outlook as a matter of principle, but I have to run Windoze on my machine, and syncing between two tkc products seems like a neat solution to the problem of having calendar and address book in different places. I\'d pay to be able to do it!

Thank heavens for this forum!

Has anyone tried to download the tkc rom via the kompany\'s website? That link appears to be buggered too.
