Software / SNES9x / ScummVM on 5500

I\'m using a 5500 with the default Sharp ROM, version 2.12. Both SNES9x (the SDL version) and ScummVM start and run fine, however it seems that the application keys and they keyboard as a whole just die.
If I SSH into the Zaurus and kill the offending application the touch screen still works, however the keyboard and application keys remain inoperative until I reboot the Zaurus.
Is anyone else seeing this behavior with those apps (or any other full screen applications)? Is anyone successfully using those applications, and if so what ROM are you using?
(I\'m awaiting arrival of a compactflash card so I can flash OpenZaurus)
