Software / picoSQL or HSQLdb on Z 5600?
« on: February 16, 2004, 09:14:42 pm »
So it is working well for you? What are you using it for? (in general) Is it compatable enough with MySQL that I can dump the info on the desktop and have the database sync ok? Do you have it installed on a CF card or internal? (I\'d prefer to put it on a CF) Thank you very much for the reply!

Software / picoSQL or HSQLdb on Z 5600?

Hello, just wondering if anyone was using either picoSQL or HSQLdb and if they liked them, or prefered one over the other, or if there is something better on the Z? Any comments would be appreciated.

Sharp ROMs / Help :( rom update failed halfway through
« on: February 04, 2004, 10:23:09 pm »
I was updating from 1.0 to 1.32 or the latest sharp rom, and half way through I got a corupt file error and it just stopped. The problem is since I was half way through, nothing on my z is working  It is now sitting at a spot asking for a runlevel.
\"Enter runlevel: __\"

I have a backup on a cf, but of course I can\'t get to it!! what do I do now??

(5600)

General Discussion / Russian on 5600??
« on: February 01, 2004, 08:44:14 am »
Thank you, I had visited those links but wasn\'t sure if I could get them to work on my 5600, I know a lot of things won\'t work on it if they are designed for the 5000/ 5500.  And I\'m still running a Sharp rom, does that matter?

General Discussion / Russian on 5600??
« on: January 31, 2004, 10:22:37 pm »
Hello, I have done some searches but have only come up with options for the 5500. Since I have a 5600, are there any programs that are 5600 friendly for the Russian language? And a keyboard would be nice as well!! Any pointing in the right direction would be appreciated. Thank you.

Has anyone used a Ridata 512 (or above) CF card? Just wondering if anyone had any good or bad comments. Thanks.

General Discussion / Recent 5600s have PXA255 processor?
« on: January 23, 2004, 10:02:08 pm »
I contacted Amazon, they said they had no idea which processor they were sending out, nor would they look at the box if you told them you wanted one or the other. They said all the information they had was on their web site. Guess it is too much to ask for them to actually inspect the product they are sending out. Oh well. It is still a good deal.

General Discussion / The FCC has the manual for the SL-6000
« on: January 14, 2004, 11:20:02 pm »
Hello. I\'m a newbie to Zaurus, well have been watching it for a while and waiting to take the \'plunge\' and have a few questions if someone has time.
What are the major advantages / disadvantages of the 5600 to the 6000 (comparatively- besides memory)
Will both run MySQL and LaTex?
Are the expansion slots on the 6000 worth the extra as compared to what the 5600 has to offer?
As a side note, I run K9 for a search and rescue group, and would like to keep track of various aspects of our team, training, etc. Which would be nice to do on a pda. (and I am very partial to linux) Many of our teams carry gps units, but simply being able to track other aspects of operations without all the baggage would be nice!!! My pack already weighs about 35lbs...augggg...
Thank you in advance for anyone who has comments/advice
