Angstrom & OpenZaurus / What About The New R21 Kernel Upgrade ?
« on: July 15, 2005, 03:04:01 am »
Hello,

It seems there is something wrong in the new R21 kernel for the Collies, lot of people have the same issue (boot sequence blocked at the update module).

Is somebody try to fix ?

Hrw, if you read my post, what is your feeling about the problem we encounter, could it be due to the different Collie models (german or UK) or to a bug in the kernel ? Or maybe we forgot to upgrade something else before to upgrade the entire kernel ?

See you.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / What / Where Is The Checkversion Script

Upgrade what? The kernel?

You need to perform the same procedure as if you were going to flash a new ROM, but only put the zImage(.bin) and updater.sh (if you're using anything other than a 5500) on the CF/SD card. This will just update the kernel, leaving the root filesystem alone. Make sure your kernel version matches the current one, or you've already installed the new kernel modules.

Thanks for your fast reply !

My question was to know if I did not understand something regarding the upgrade to the new kernel r21, because it does not work (discussion [a href=\"https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=13576)]https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=13576)[/url].

And  how to use it to do an upgrade ? Is it documented ? (My Z is at home, sorry).

Hi,

Hrw talk about the upgrade with the checkversion script, what is it ? And where can I find it ?
Maybe the upgrade works well only when using this script, who know ?

See you

I have exactly the same error (keep blocked on the line 'Configuring update modules')  as you but using opie-image-collie-20050407173817.rootfs.jffs2 and zImage-collie-48-16-r21.bin (renamed of course).

.../...

I tried to flash with another r21 kernel (64-0) this is the same problem.

I re-flashed  my Z with the "original" kernel. It boots normally now.

But I would like to use the new kernel !!

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Bricked Sl5500?
« on: December 23, 2004, 05:33:03 am »
Hi,

I just try to flash my SL5500 with the OZ 3.5.2 zImage 40-24 and I did not succeed...

First thing I notice : after the download the zImage_collie-40-24  is named zImage_collie-40-25. Not a problem, the md5sum is correct.

After the md5sum verification of the inird.bin too, I decide to flash. When the lights goes off, I follow the instructions to reboot the beast, but nothing happen, black screen, that's all.

I decided to re-flash  with sharprom 3.10. All is fine.

Is there a problem with the zImage 40-24 ?

See you

Short report :

The installation does not work. I think it is because I installed the new busybox before the other packages. During each package install I have errors messages (lot of error 127) and the install fail at the end.

I wil try again...

Bye

Hello,

The SMC 2642 works "out of the box" with OZ 3.2 (or sharp rom).

Be carefull you talk about WAP but this is WEP. The WAP is another method of encryption and it is not supported by the OZ 3.2.

You have to put your WEP key in your Z (in ascii characters) and the same key on your Dlink, but I do not know if it is in ascii or in hexa in this model. You have to specify too your SSID, etc...

It works fine for me since about 2 years in adhoc and in infrastrucure mode.

Hi,

I try to use the sharp camera on my SL-5500 flashed with OZ 3.2. It seems difficult to do this... I use the packages from Mickey Lauer (libopie2, sharp camera support and oipe camera for gcc2.95 ) but it failed when I insert the cam (unsupported device, sharpzdc_cs loaded ? and /dev/sharpzdc red/write are the errors I have). And I noticed the /dev/sharpzdc file does not exists on my Z...

Is anybody able to help me ?

Thanks in advance

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / IS OZ 3.3.5 reliable and stable
« on: July 13, 2004, 07:20:51 am »
Hi all !

I hesitate to flash my SL 5500 from OZ 3.2 to OZ 3.3.5, I would like to know your experiences about OZ 3.3.5.
My main usages are :

- mail
- addressbook
- web browsing
- text
- nmap, kismet, etc
- wlan
- audio & video (not create, just read !!)
briefly all is already possible with OZ 3.2...

Is it reliable and is there any big bugs that I have to know before to flash ?

Thanks in advance
