General Discussion / best synching for Linux
« on: February 16, 2004, 06:17:13 am »
What is the best combination for synching PIM information with a desktop app.

I originally tried using multisync to sync the default PIM utilities on the original sharp ROM for 5500 with Evolution (failed) and with a backup folder on my desktop (worked once).

Someone on irc suggested that it would work with Opie so i changed the rom and still can\'t get it to work - see here for details

Does anyone know of a surefire way to get me using the Z as my mobile PIM and able to sync to my production machine?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / multisync
« on: February 16, 2004, 03:20:00 am »
Does anyone know anything about setting up Multisync to work with the OZ rom.
I\'\'m using this as my guide -
http://www.multisync.org/newdocs/x247.htm

but I just keep getting the error message -
failed to connect local: failed to login to server

I\'ve got networking going ok, and have pure-ftpd running on the Z and no problems using ssh to get into it, but multisync doesn\'t seem to want to play ball.

can anyone think what might be the problem?

much appreciated

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / changing ROMs

that was great answer  thanx

one thing that\'s been puzzling me though is why the various Zaurus OS\'s are called ROMs. I thought ROM was a Read Only Memory, when you see to be able to write (\"flash?\") to this.

do you absolutely have to use a CF card to change or upgrade the OS on the Zaurus?
