Zaurus - pdaXrom / Kathrin RC2 Tips
« on: August 18, 2004, 01:32:42 pm »
To make Dillo, the default browser,  in RC2 open to fill the screen change the following:

In the "/home/root/.dillo/dillorc" file change the "geometry" entry to "geometry=636x419".  I have found that this change saves me from having to Maximize the window each time.

Great ROM, very stable for a RC!  I'll will report back other findings....

Sharp ROMs / trouble with new Cacko Qtopia rom
« on: June 10, 2004, 07:56:30 am »
Matt,

I had the same trouble occur after installed Cacko v1.21 ROM.  After following the instructions including repartioning the flash then installing the ROM file and rebooting my C760 again, all I saw was a \"runlevel\" prompt.  I tried entering 5 for runlevel 5 and 2 for single user mode but neither worked.  Following that, I tried to reflash again with the same results.  Previously, I have sucessfully used both of Cacko\'s PdaXrom and Qtopia ROMs.  I solved my problem by restoring the C760 from a NAND backup via service menu THEN reflashed my Z with the Cacko v1.21 ROM.  It now boots and works properly with no prompt for runlevel....

I hope this helps you with your problem,

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Linksys WLan WCF12
« on: June 01, 2004, 09:18:25 am »
I am using pdaXrom v1.05 with a Linksys WCF12 card and it works perfectly...  You do not need to do any thing special to use the card.  Go to the System Folder and use the LAN applet to set it up.

Enjoy,

Sharp ROMs / Socket 56k Modem CF Card
« on: April 26, 2004, 03:26:02 pm »
I have a Socket 56K CF MODEM and it worked until I upgraded to the ROM v1.2X series.  Not sure what changed but the MODEM is not recognized anymore and I tried it on a laptop to make sure it was not burned out.  Now my MODEM doesn\'t work in BOTH ROMS, Qtopia v1.2X and pdaXrom v1.05 where it never worked (unrecognized)...  anyway, the ROMs are works in progress and both have come along way!

Zaurus - pdaXrom / CF Radio Cards
« on: April 23, 2004, 10:21:38 am »
I have seen some CF FM Radio Cards for the PDAs and was wondering has anyone gotten one to work for the Zaurus?  Specifically the pdxrom.  The cards are relatively cheap and are StrongARM or XScale processor compatible...

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Using debian-arm binaries
« on: April 23, 2004, 10:09:10 am »
omin0us,

I downloaded and tried your deb2ipk script.  It errors out at line 57 saying it can\'t find the \"ar\" program after it renames the \".deb\" file to a \".ar\" file?  Should that program be \"tar\" not \"ar\" (spelling error)?  If not, where do I find the \"ar\" program... must be doing something stupid.  Please help...

Zaurus - pdaXrom / New pdaXrom installer (to have just Root partition)
« on: April 22, 2004, 12:41:31 pm »
Ashley,  just tried your pdaXrom patch and it worked perfectly on my SL-760!  This is what the ROM was missing...  since I prefer to install the apps internally and not on the slower SD / CF cards which are better suited for data storage.  now I finally do not have to limit what applications I install.  Thanks again for your great contribution to the pdaXrom project!

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Playing Video on pdaXrom
« on: April 12, 2004, 01:10:55 pm »
Add \"fs=1\" in the mplayer config file located in \"~/.mplayer/config\".  This will allow the video to run in fullscreen mode.  You may want to add the framedrop option too..

« on: April 07, 2004, 12:50:24 pm »
Just installed the new ROM...  And Yes, screen rotation appears to work automatically!  So far so good.  Now its time to reinstall apps and test out my Network, MODEM and WIFI cards etc..  From what I can tell so far, they have made some Great improvements from the last ROM version.  Great job, Sashz and company!

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Settings needed to Open Programs Maximized....
« on: March 25, 2004, 03:18:54 pm »
Wario,

Did you modified the \"/etc/X11/kb/corgi.xmodmap\" file?  If so what was the command you used to set the Menu button (keycode 37) equal to?  Please let me know...

Thanks,

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Settings needed to Open Programs Maximized....
« on: March 22, 2004, 12:07:05 pm »
Does anyone know how to open programs maximized...  In other words, when you run \"konqueror\" it opens in a very tiny window.  I changed it to open in a bigger window using the command switch \"Exec=konqueror -geometry 600x400\" in its \"matchbox desktop\" startup file located in \"/usr/share/applications\" folder.  Remember to restart the xserver to see the changes....  Anyway, is there a command switch or variable that I can change to have a program launch maximized.  Any help would be appreciated.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Recommended Wired and Wireless CF cards?
« on: March 19, 2004, 12:21:35 pm »
I am using the Linksys CF Wireless WCF12 card with the PDAXROM v1.0 on a SL-760 and it works perfectly.   My only complaint is the card drains my SL-760 too quick for my taste.  Maybe someone else can recommend a Low Power, Sharp friendly, Wireless LAN CF card.  BTW, Cacko/Sashz and everyone else great job on the ROM!
