I get the same issue... kinda weird that it launches from the terminal every time.... I meant to post about this before my vacation... but I guess I didn't have the time... anyway.. here's a screenshot of the error (not that it really matters )

btw - kutscher, did you already submit a bug report at pdaxrom.org?

I just posted it.
BTW does anybody know if OpenOffice would be runnable in X11?

Hi Folks,

Just installed RC5 a couple of days ago and I'm very please with it (kudos to pdaxrom!)
Now, I'm trying to run gnumeric and I repeatedly get an Error "Application Gnumeric" has crashed due to a fatal error (segmentation fault).
Any clues?

Also, is there any other spreadsheet available for RC5?

Tks!!!

I\'m also using VNC 3.3.7, the box is running Win 2K3 Srv.

If everything is working fine for you - thanks for the info! - then I think it\'s time to move on and reflash my Z. Probably I must have messed my OS with way too much junk.

In a separate not, do you know how to VPN to a Win Machine (running Remote Access Services). I can\'t find support for ms-chapv2.

Tks a lot!!!

Security and Networking / WIFI: saving your battery using iwconfig?
« on: February 20, 2004, 03:09:51 pm »
Hi All,

I\'ve tried iwconfig to reduce my wifi speed and power signal, so I could save some battery. I know I\'m being too empirical, so I a mogul could help me it would be nice.

Here is what I try:
iwconfig eth0 rate 2M (it worked and speed fell to 2Mbps - but who said this is going to save batt?).

Then I tried this one, actually more promising in terms os battery saving. But then I would need WIFI extension 13 - does anybody know where to get it? I\'m running Cacko QT in a SL-C860.

Anyway, this is what I get,

iwconfig eth0 txpower 8
Warning: Driver for device eth0 has been compiled with version 12 of Wireless Extension. while this program is using version 13.
Some things may be broken...

Error for wireless request \"Set Tx Power\" (8B26) :
SET failed on device eth0; operation not supported.

Actually here is what happens:

- In windows logon screen, I can send ctrl-alt-del. The windows to provide usr/pwd pops up, but I can\'t type anything there.
- If the user is already logged in, I can type normally (e.g. notepad).
- \"Next is right-click\" doesn\'t work at all.

Everything works fine if I use a Win VNC viewer.

Security and Networking / VPN Z x RAS, any clues?
« on: February 20, 2004, 10:08:53 am »
HI all,

I wonder how to connect a QT Cacko to a RAS server (WinRemote Access). I need to use ms-chapv2 and I don\'t see such option in vpn network applet.

Any ideas?
Tks!

Hmmmm.... thank for the link.
Tried that too, same results. Curiously, I\'m also running it under Cacko. Weird...

Security and Networking / WIFI Signal Power.
« on: February 20, 2004, 08:34:17 am »
Yeah, you are right. I tried a LinkSys with horribles results though.

But if I\'m not wrong, the signal power floats from 100mW to 500mW - I wonder if we could arbitraly set a value so the battery could last longer.

I\'m used to have my Z connected thru gprs at only 56Kbps so there is no need at all for me to have 11Mbps. 2Mbps would be more than enough.

Any clues?

Hi all,

I just installed keypebbles in a 860. I\'m able to connect to a VNC server (running win 2K3).
I can remote control the mouse, and see the screen clearly, however I can\'t type anything there. I can though send \"ctrl-alt-delete\" via menu, but no keyboad at all.

Heeeeelp!
Tks,

Software / Scalable VNC for Z-5500
« on: February 19, 2004, 05:02:09 pm »
Hmmm.... sorry I\'m a newbie.

Where could I find one? That is the one that I\'ve got:
http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/showdetail.php?app=186

Which has a \"5x00\" look and feel. No Landscape orientation.

Tks!

Yep, it works great.
Make sure you get the one from the sharp feed, if you are using a sharp based rom.

Security and Networking / WIFI Signal Power.

Hi all,

I just got my Symbol Spectrum24 Wifi.
The card is extremely fast, however, besides some posts claiming that it has low power consumption, I\'ve found that it is a battery eater!

Anyone knows how to tweak the card so we could reduce db/mw, eventually loosing some speed?

Tks

Is that possible to have KeyPebble in Landscape view for the SL-C7x0 / 860 series?

Sharp ROMs / Cacko and prism2_cs
« on: February 11, 2004, 03:51:41 pm »
Hi all,

I have just installed Qt Cacko (great!). I cant make my Linksys WCF12 to work though.
cardctl says the card is ready, but I havea problem loading prism2_cs - I get tons of msgs:
#insmod prism2_cs
Using /lib/modules/2.4.18-rmk7-pxa3-embedix/pcmcia/prism2_cs.o: unresoved symbol p80211netdev_hwremoved
Using /lib/modules/2.4.18-rmk7-pxa3-embedix/pcmcia/prism2_cs.o: unresoved symbol register_wlandev
and so, and so on...

any clues?

Tks!!!
