Off Topic forum / Play Your .ogg Files In Your Car!
« on: August 13, 2006, 02:43:41 pm »
Hi everyone.
I just bought a new JVC cd/reciever for my car, and I chose one that has USB port right on the face. This is nice, it will recognice flash drives up to 4GB.
Just for fun, I put one of my SD cards full of Zaurus .ogg files into the player and was very suprised to see that it recognises and plays these files! Now I won't have to maintain a seperate library of files for the Z, everyone can share!
JVC info and user manual lists only .mp3 and .wma as supported file types.
The model is KD-G820. There is a lower model that is the same except for the color display. Crutchfield offers this for 2 bills.
Enjoy.

Excellent.
I\'ll give it a try later this morning, let you know how it goes!
I think part of the problem was that I didn\'t uninstall the libpng before I tried the whole thing, I must have somehow missed that part.

Will let you know!

Cool, thanks.
Maybe I\'ll try that too.
Link didn\'t work, but if the page is called \'modules\', I\'ll find it!

Hi again.
I checked over the libraries, and I found libpng12 was not installed, so I installed it (from the Gaim site feed) and now it starts again, but gives me other library errors. I think I amy be close, but...
Any idea where I can find a comprehensive list of libraries?
I\'m on my way to work, I\'ll post the error in case you see something obvious, I\'ll try to have a better look later tonight and see if I can figure out what i\'m missing, exactly.
I also got a file manager program working, that should help me figure out what the heck I\'m looking at!

Accessories / Cheapest CompactFlash SD cards?
« on: February 25, 2004, 01:05:06 pm »
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Ca...egory_flash.asp

Tiger ships to GB, and while I don\'t know the shipping charges, I do know their prices are pretty good. Prices with an asterisk are after a rebate.
I have a Dane-elec CF 256, which has prooved reliable so far, and is very quick.

Here is a link to their info page for international orders.
http://www.tigerdirect.com/sectors/Help/in...national.asp#i3

with +/- $1.85/ one british pound, you should be able to do pretty well, even with extra shipping costs.

Good luck!

Well, I have a yahoo account, I\'ll try this later (probably tomorrow) and let you know if that part will work.
I dunno about MSN, I think that requires a few other packages and stuff for their security options, and I don\'t have an account with them to try.
I wonder if I should select all the modules, not just the oscar and yahoo ones?
I\'ll try it the short route first, I can always start over again

What a blast! I used to have a Bronco for work, and while getting to remote sites I\'d try to find the nearly impossible route. Lots of fun in deep snow with tire chains! I do my personal offroading on 2 wheels...with a BIG motor.

I\'ll have to go find your site an check out the pictures...

Thanks again for the great work here, I\'d be completely lost without everyone here.

I\'ve got to run, though...I\'ve spent too much time in here, I\'m gonna get in big trouble if my dinner gets cold again tonight!

Thanks!
do you know if I should go (re)install all the packages for Gaim before doing that, or after?
I\'ll let you know how I make out, THanks for the help!
(I have to run now, if my dinner gets cold again, I\'ll be in real trouble!)

Offroadgeek- I took your advice on the socket ethernet card, found it cheap ($45 incl. shipping), works great! I\'ve also gotten a symbol spectrum 24 wireless ethernet card, that works fine too, except for Kismet/wellenreiter,but that\'s another story.

I\'m using the laterst Sharp ROM, and the nice thing is the backup to PC utility that I upgraded along with it. Now I have good backups in case a screw anything up. (only had to use it once)

I\'ve been messing with the terminal (console) and I\'ve really come a long way...Thanks to you and everyone here.

I have a few (slightly more educated) questions, though..maybe someone can help?

Can you restore just one part of a backup (like entries from your calendar)? and if so, how?
If I were to go to OZ, would the Sharp backup utility and file xfer work?
Is there anywhere I could find a file tree other than just stumbling around in the console?
when you\'re in the terminal, some files are colored differently. Any idea what that means?
What does one do when an application requires an executable .jar file. I transferred the file to the Z and I can see it in the GIU, but I can\'t do anything with it, and I can\'t find it from the terminal. (this is for Qtjim)
Is there a specific directory where the files you place in internal memory wind up? how about for a CF or SD card? I tried finding properties for these things by holding the stylus on them (in the \'files\' tab of the GUI), but there\'s no file or location info.

Thanks in advance...
Oh, offroad geek again, are you really an offroader?

I\'ve uninstalled Gaim, and tried the qtjim, but I can\'t figure out how to install or execute the .jar file.

Here is what was ahppening with Gaim, maybe I can go back and try it again if anyone has any idea what I was missing..

# ln -s /home/QtPalmtop/lib/libqte.so.2.3.2 /usr/lib/libpng12.so.0
ln: /usr/lib/libpng12.so.0: File exists
# gaim
gaim: error while loading shared libraries: libopie.so.1: cannot load shared object file: No such file or directory

Thanks,

Hi.
I\'ve followed the above, and I was getting the same \'can\'t connect to server error.
I then ran kismet_server from the # prompt, and now it *looks* like something is happeneing, but it still doesn\'t find anything. I have an access point right here.
I have the laterst Sharp ROM (3.1) and a Symbol spectrum 24 wireless ethernet card.
I have tried mounting and unmounting the card, and also tried all the setting for different cards in the config menu of the kismet GIU.

Below is what printed to the console after I started kismet from the prompt, and below that  is what happened when i entered the command kismet_server from root:

Anyone ever try qtjim?

I tried to get gaim working following the info here, and still no icons. I have made a text file of the reply to the  -s command, and the error message when running from the console, but i can\'t figure out how to paste it into a message from the Z!

qtjim\'s .ipk needs a .jar file. The creator gives a command to install it, but no go.

Anyone have any ideas?
