Software / Kde-pim/pi 2.2.9 Available For Sharp Rom
« on: May 06, 2008, 06:50:43 pm »
Mr. Zautrix, I can't tell you how pleased I am to see more development on this. For me, it's the best application on the Zaurus. I run it on Windows and FreeBSD as well and sync between the three and my web server. Thanks a lot.

I'm certainly disappointed, being one of those who donated to buy him a zaurus.

Good thing I've still got a copy...

Thanks very much. I searched for hours for it. It's really interesting to try out.

For Sale / Wanted / Wanted: Large Battery And Cover

Anyway...
I think the battery on mine is not as good as it should be, so I need a replacement. I'm thinking of trying to get the large battery, such as the C760 and C860 has, but where can I get one, and more importantly, where can I get the cover for it?

Pulster in Germany has them

Just add this line to /etc/ipkg.conf and it will then show up in package manager with all that space.

Code: [Select]
dest fakeroot /media/fakeroot[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=159747\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Thanks. I did a similar thing. I deleted all of the "dest" entries and change the root to "dest / /media/fakeroot".

Cheers.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Synergy Client

Here you go. Unfortunately it doesn't work with the newer versions of synergy. Compiling a newer version had been on my todo list for a long time (too long in fact )
Thanks a lot for that. It works brilliantly. It's much better using a mouse on PdaXrom. I now have my laptop on my desk with the monitor from my desktop behind/above, and my Zaurus to the left.

Everything is much quicker to operate now. Can't thank you enough.

Seeing as the pdaxrom feeds are mostly deaded, does anyone have the ipk for the synergy client for pdaxii13, as packaged by desertrat?

It would be supremely useful for me.

Thanks.

Software / Kapi Vcfs With Embedded Images?
« on: April 24, 2007, 09:22:17 am »
Does anybody understand the intracacies of Ka/pi with regarding to storing image data? There seems to be some buggage lurking around.

If I have a photo stored inside a contact, I can sync it to a second computer by selecting Synchronize on the second machine. The second machine receives the contact with the embedded photo, but then when it writes back the data to the first machine the first machine loses its photo.

The Write Back operation always writes back a file that has no image data. It's rather annoying.

The other thing is that the actual stored vcard file doesn't have any image data in either. When you do a direct sync, it looks like it creates a temporary vcf file with embedded images, which is what it sends over to the other machine. But this temporary file is not created when syncing via upload/download, meaning that image data is lost.

Besides taring and gzipping the kabc folder and uploading that for synching to my server, and using the same method to sync between machines, does anyone know of anyway to fix the above problems?

But....  how do I tweak the gui package manager to install ipks to /mnt/ide..or /media/fakeroot/usr... (or generally in the system stuff on the hd) in such a way as to be able to use them?

Did you manage to sort this problem out? I'm having the same one now, except that in Package Manager, my / says it only has about 1.5MB free, and if I try to install to it, it runs out of space. And yet there sits the hard drive with hdc1 having 1.6GB free and hdc3 having 1.3GB free.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Removing R198?

Use the D+M menu to do a NAND erase, then put your SHARP ROM backup onto SD or CF, insert it, and perform the restore (assuming you did the backup from this menu in the first place). You should be able to get to the "OK" flashing menu now.

Thanks very much. Now installing PdaXii13!

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Removing R198?
« on: April 22, 2007, 03:09:36 pm »
After much nail-biting, I decided to back everything up and then leap from the Sharp ROM to pdaXrom on my C3100.

Very nice. Very pleased with it....except for one thing. I can't connect to my Windows laptop. I'm using the linux.inf file for the Windows driver when it is recognised as a RNDIS device, but it gets to installing the 8023x.sys file and sits there until I unplug the USB cable. Then it finishes installing, but hasn't installed properly. The RNDIS device appears in Device Manager, but there is no device in Network Connections. I've tried all manner of re-installs and linux.inf variants all to no avail.

So I thought that I would try PdaXii13 instead as I believe that it's based on the 2.4 kernel and thought that it might help with the problem.

But I now have no update menu on the Zaurus. If I turn on while holding down 'OK', it just boots into PdaXrom. I can get to the service menu by holding down D+M, or get the flashing lights from D+C (although they flash indefinitely, no matter what is on the CF or SD card).

So how can I fix things here. Is there a way to get the RNDIS driver working on WindowsXP? Is there a way to get the 'OK' menu back? Can I update using the service menu? How can I get PdaXii13 after having installed PdaXrom R198?

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

It all seems to be working okay now.

As far as I can tell, the Ko/Pi alarm applet was causing the problem.

Bit of a problem here.

I have an SL-C3100 (original Sharp ROM). It's started to suffer from not waking up after being suspended. I found a thread here detailing the same problem, but there was no resolution.

Anybody got any idea what I can do to fix this? I've taken everything off fast load and uninstalled anything that starts up on boot, but it's still the same. I have to take the battery out and reboot it for it to work again after it has been suspended by the on/off button, the menu, or the power saving.

Software / Spectrum Emulator

I got Fuse running a few years ago. It was still too slow. Not much better than the java emulators, to be honest.

Maybe someone with more time than me can optimise it, but I was very dissapointed with it.

Thought that I would post this Zaurus C series specific landscape version of the game, I can't remember where I found it.
The clue is in the filename.
