6000 - Tosa / 6000L and S-E T610 via BT for GPRS?
« on: June 11, 2004, 11:28:39 pm »
I have a 6000L and I use a Socket Bluetooth CF card.  There was an issue with it when I first got it but there is a thred in this forum that tells you exactly what to do to get it to work.  I connect via my T-Mobile phone with no problems now.

6000 - Tosa / Opie on the 6000?
« on: May 21, 2004, 09:18:13 pm »
Sign up where?  I would love to help.  I have only had my Zaurus for a month so I am a little behind the curve when it comes to all the software that was developed for the 5xxx\'s and flashing the ROM.  But I have more than 20 years experience with Unix / C programming and more than 10 years writing X server code.  I am particularly interested in the OPIE project because I want to run X windows on my 6000.

I\'m not sure how the ZUG community feels about this but I just received word that the Sharp Developers Site should be up and functioning again sometime next week.

6000 - Tosa / Zaurus expansion sleeve...

One thing you mustn\'t overlook, the sleeve does come with an extra battery in addition to the CF slot.

6000 - Tosa / Zaurus expansion sleeve...
« on: May 13, 2004, 02:23:14 pm »
I don\'t have any photos but I do have an expansion sleeve.  The sleeve is tapered at the top and is a little more than 1/4 inch thicker at the top than at the bottom.  At the bottom, the thinner end, it is just about the same thickness as the 6000 itself.  All the other dimensions are the same, so the bottom line is that the unit fully assembled is twice as thick.

I like the extra functionality of the expansion but it is definitely not a \"pocket PC\" any more.

6000 - Tosa / Software for the SL-6000
« on: May 03, 2004, 03:12:00 pm »
The qpdf2 I loaded was qpdf2_2.00-20030725_arm.ipk.  I will try the other one.

Can you explain what you changed on the desktop icon to get 640x480 mode?

Thanks

6000 - Tosa / Software for the SL-6000
« on: May 02, 2004, 04:04:34 pm »
I think this is a good idea.  I would like to know what works and what doesn\'t without having to waste the time experimenting.  My experience is:

Works
- qkconsole ( with the limitations noted )
- JustReader ( but the number of formats is very limited, won\'t rotate )

Doesn\'t work
- kismet ( enough others have had success I must have screwed it up, I\'ll try again )
- kino2 ( installed but that\'s about it )
- opie-reader ( installed; worked for a while; then hung; had to reset to uninstall )
- qpdf2 ( installed; ran; but test leaves trask all over the screen )

I still have a Socket bluetooth card I can\'t use; anyone have any luck with that yet?

6000 - Tosa / USB host cable
« on: April 29, 2004, 09:10:53 pm »
I live in the Atlanta area and I have been to 3 Staple\"s stores and CompUSA and MicroCenter looking for the elusive mini-A to standard B USB cable.  I seems that not all stores carry it and it is still not on their web site.

The good news is that I have just ordered the following 3\' cable from BlackBox for $5.99.

Code            Qty       Total ($)     Description
MUSB01-0003     1         5.99          USB On-the-Go Cables, USB B Male to Mini USB A Male

When I get it I will let you know if it works.

6000 - Tosa / How to get started? (please help)
« on: April 25, 2004, 02:55:58 pm »
Thanks,
I guess I will just hang onto it for a while until someone with more experience than me reports getting it to work.  I should get my 6000 this week and I am sure I will have plenty of other things to get familiar with before I need bluetooth.

6000 - Tosa / How to get started? (please help)
« on: April 23, 2004, 03:14:57 pm »
I have been keeping an eye on the sl-6000 and monitoring this site since October.  I really wanted a 6000W but I finally gave up and ordered a 6000L which is due to arrive next week.

I have already received the Socket Communications Bluetooth CF card but now I see conflicting posts; some say it is the preferred card and some say it does not work at all.  Before I open the package and can still send it back without a restocking fee, does it work or not?

If it does work, I am sure it will need some software, where can I go to get it.  If it doesn\'t, what should I order?

Thanks for any help I can get.
